Fail... If it was announced in June, not so much...

I agree I like upgrading with a regular cycle and if this was only one year id be impressed but you could argue this is the most insignificant upgrade yet siri is great but it is software and its a crime that its only on the 4s

Lame! But I need a new phone. I hate this. I will never use siri. I hate talking on the phone ever. I text and talk when I have to. Why would I want to look like a crazy person talking to no one.

I have a 3G so yes, its still an upgrade for me. I am excited about the processor, camera, and Siri in the car at least.

This is a disappointment, but a big one, I'm not so sure. At least a bigger screen would have really been nice. They couldn't even do that. Will I ever use Siri, Im not sure I will. The new camera is nice, but for many, it won't be enough to upgrade. An A5 chip isn't a big deal. A5 is good, but the A4 wasn't slow. 1080p video recording? 720 is pretty good.

It's really going to be interesting to see how many iPhone custos go to the bigger more elaborate screens on android.

My question is what took them so long to give us a minor upgrade?

At least we still don't have to worry about our pockets being fat with a 4" deviceS

I was hoping at least for an official explanation as to why it took so long...

Fail

I will still purchase because I have a 3GS. Would not if I had an iPhone 4.

Seriously....this should have been released in June. (if it was released in june, at least wed be 3 months into the year and only have 9 more to go for the next iPhone)

I'm really disappointed. They had 16 months to make something amazing. Instead, they crammed a boring A5 chip in, which isn't new - it was in the iPad. The camera thing was pretty cool, and I'm glad they fixed the antenna problem. But seriously? You had SIXTEEN MONTHS? You went from 3GS to 4, a complete overhaul in 12, but it took you LONGER to change almost nothing? What the ******* were they doing the whole time?

All the same, I'm still using a T-Mobile 3GS. If they sell the 4S unlocked, like they recently started doing with the 4, I will be buying one anyway. My 3GS is in bad shape and it can't hold out for the next iPhone. So I'll shell out $500 or $600 for a new one. =/

It's good business sense for apple and shareholders.. they lower manufacturing costs by having one phone that supports both GSM/CDMA.

However, as a consumer.. I wish they would have released the iPhone 5.

Go easy guys, The way I see it Apple just saved alot of iPhone 4 users some cash.

Hehe, seriously. I don't NEED another phone, but, if a "5" was announced, I would have bought one. I can now happily use my iPhone 4, perfectly good working device that does everything I need, with a new OS soon, for another year. :D

It looks great!

I think for the 3GS users out there, this is a great upgrade. Those that bought the iPhone 4, can wait until next year, and get the 5. They can then deal with the problems of having a completely untested in real life phone, and will complain about the same problems we had with "AntennaGate", and those that bought the iPhone 4S will get the perfected version of the iPhone 5 (e.g. iPhone 5S).

If you want to get a new phone every year, great, but it is obvious that Apple wants to do 2 year cycles, with spec bumps a year into the cycle. They did it with the 3G => 3GS, the did it with the iPhone 4 => iPhone 4S.

This makes a great phone even better for those that want to upgrade. Those that don't, save your money for next year.

If Apple wanted us to get a brand new phone every year, they would negotiate with the cell phone providers to offer 1 year contracts. At that point it might be worth it. Then again, it may be the providers that are telling Apple to not do significant exterior updates every year.

Looking forward to my new iPhone 4S!

An extra 32 GB....nice, but not really a must have.

Better camera.....nice, but not really a must have (at least for me).

Better processor......nice and would be great, but at the expense of the battery, I'm wondering if the battery for real use won't be a little worse than for the 4.

The new antenna design.....who knows. Will it work as advertised?

I'm waiting for the iPhone 5, I think.

If you have the iPhone 4 now, i really see little to no reason that you HAVE to go out and get this one. Well see though, a piece of turd with an apple logo on it would sell like hotcakes also.

TRUE! I love my iphone 4 and will be eligible for an upgrade in a year. This way I don't feel like I am missing out on something. Maybe a reward to all of us who bought the iphone 4, despite the warnings from some that in a year or less we would regret it as 5 was on it's way....
