The system of the world by Neal Stephenson

The Algiabrist by Iain M Banks

Both of which I got last christmas and haven't got round to finishing yet. (Yeah, it's been a slow reading year)

Come to think of it I also have Runes of the Earth by Donaldson and China Mieville's Iron Council under the bed...DOH!

The Algebraist is an excellent book - I had read much of Iain Banks' mainstream fiction, but this was the first of his sci-fi books that I read. I loved it and went out and bought all of his Culture novels, which I finally finished last Friday.

I haven't read anything by Neal Stephenson, but have heard great things about 'Snow Crash'. Has anyone read this and would they recommend it?

I'm on Bios at the moment, although I just finished THE MAN WHO ATE EVERYTHING which was damn fine.

MOAB IS MY WASHPOT - Stephen Fry

EVIL SPIRITS - Oliver Reed (Cliff Goodwin)

Flann O'Brien is next on my list....

I'm currently reading the rest of the 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' - something I've been meaning to do for about 6 years.
I'm about half way through The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and loving it so far. I really enjoy Adams' descriptive writing styles.

What about the rest of you? Any recommendations?

If you like Douglas Adams then you should read (if you haven't already) 'The Long Dark Tea-Tme Of The Soul' and 'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency' both great books by him.
