What can apple do to get you to trade in that jailbreak for a stock firmware?

For me,
1.) Quick reply on sms
2.) Take off that ridiculous 12 app limit for folders
3.) Allow me to do anything on 3G

1 and 2 are musts, 3 would be REALLY nice, but not exactly a deal breaker.

Not 16 icons on a page and a dock with 4 more. Its dumb.

Widgets would be nice.

Custom tweaking like volume button to take picture.

Not pincrush and encrypt everything in the phone so it can be easily changed.

A better lockscreen, not using screen real estate

Task switcher is bull, id like to know what is actually multitasking.. not just whats recent.

Loosen up app store restrictions more.

You guys aren't thinking big enough, just one thing necessary really; open the file system.

That's really all jailbreak does, once done you can do anything you want with the device like we do with jailbreaks now. Just think of all the awesome things we could have if we didnt have to put all the efforts into jailbreaks and waiting for said etc.

A distant second would be a local apps installer, download an app and instal it like any other computer. Outside of the app store approval nanny.

Thats why I mentioned the pincrushing and encryption. Its so dumb that JBers had to make mobile substrate and have it running just to change the look of a few things..

Too bad theyw ill never fully open it..
Things would become too illegal, too fast.

I like how andriod has it now though.. I just hate the bugginess of custom ROMs

open system never going to happen! at least while SJ is in charge. now maybe id Woz some how was in charge, he more of a rebel or at least understands why people want to jb.

Just sayin that's what it will take.

I'm giving android and winmo7 a year to mature and will look closely at switching.

Nothing short of removing the chmod jail will allow the range of customization and functionality I have come to expect from my jailbroken iPhone. As long as Apple continues to lock down the file system, I will continue to jailbreak.

Apple could make it more user friendly so fewer people JB, I know some people only use it for miwi and bite sms or maybe some other combo of 1-3 tweaks but some people (like me) have 70-80 packages in cydia.

I was playing with my brothers unjailbroken phone and it felt like using a PC in safe mode. I forgot navigate from maps and the download manager in safari are not native.

Their will always be a market for JB

Sell the phone unlocked. That is the single biggest reason for many owners.

Allow us to customize our phones via graphical and audio changes.

Nothing.

No jailbreak? No sale.

(Unless, of course, within the stock firmware, they give me complete access to the filesystem, the ability to elevate my privilege level to superuser when I need to, and the option to execute unsigned code and to sideload applications from a source other than the App Store.)

For me, I want INSTANT access to the brightness control and rotation control.

This is more for the iPad, but I have an iPhone4 on 4.2.1 that I just got JUST for the camera, etc. Now I am considering swapping the sims and using the iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad when I have it.

But the biggest things for me are the ability to tweak the GUI how I want.

On my iPad, I have a 2x click on the status bar to bring up quick settings like turning Wifi on and off when it wont stop trying to connect. Or, adjusting the brightness as I go from day to night, especially as I go to bed and my wife wants the thing dimmed as low as it will go, etc.

Also on the iPad, the Rotation lock on the side (I am still on 3.2 on the iPad) has GOT to stay a lock.

There are other GUI things, but generally, things that make working on the iOS on a daily basis more manageable.

Sbsettings.... I hate digging through menus just to turn Bluetooth on and off!
Way more customizations like Winterboard stuff.
Wifi Hotspot (MyWi)
My3G... let me do what I want with MY limited monthly data allotment.

How could i forget........

Tap to unlock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody know of one for 4.2.1???

Thanks!

Well, 90% of the jailbreakers use it for one purpose: Piracy.

Way to issue a blanket condemnation with no basis whatsoever. Care to provide a source for those numbers?

Of the 8 people I know with JB'd iPhones, not one has knowingly pirated an app, ever. Most of us have actually spent more money in the Cydia store than the App Store, because there's more useful **** in it.
