I thought I would buy a clear case for my new iPhone 12, but there are so many. What case will you buy and why? How well will it actually protect your phone? I personally want to minimize the bulk, but still protect it, and I want to be able to see the color of the phone.

A clear case by Caseology and Totallee. I love to see the color of my iPhone and it minimizes the bulk for me.

Have you used those before and have experience with how well they protect your phone?

I also may buy an Apple Leather case for the first time this year.
I actually have been looking at that one also, but it is about 4X as much, lol.

I currently use both and switch them out. The Caseology case is a littler harder and a little bigger than the Totallee clear case. I’m always dropping my phone getting out the car or in the house on the tile floor and concrete. My screen protector always cracks but the glass on the front and back of my phone have yet to crack.

Which type of screen protector do you use?

None of them! I'm just not a case person, especially since I like the finish of the phone. I have a Smart Cover on my iPad 2 and that's about it for cases for me.

Yes, I do run with my iPhone. That's about the most extreme I do with it. Usually, it's resting on my desk or in my pocket.

That being said, I never go without AppleCare+ on an iPhone.

I'm definitely buying slightly thinker case than a thin slim case and screen protector after cracking my xs max screen lol

I didn't use cases before and learned the hard way. I can go for months not dropping my phone but they call it accident for a reason.

I really liked the Apple leather case...except I hated that it had no drop rating. I've been using Speck Presidio Pro cases for a while, and I like their drop protection. They aren't as bulky as other brands, but I still occasionally let my X go naked just to make it feel a little better in the pocket and hand. The phones look so nice, it's a shame we have to cover them

I've used apple cases form iphone 6, 6s, 7, 8. Apple cases while having no drop rating absolutely can withstand drops. Apple will not advertise it, its not something they've ever done but they are absolutely trust worthy and I've never cracked a screen and I've dropped them about 2 dozen times sadly. Wife also has a apple leather case that's been dropped numerous times. Apple leather cases are thick, which is one thing I don't particular like and I don't use it often on my xs max. I stopped using it after a few months on my xs max. But i probably would not have a crack on my screen if I used an apple leather case at the time of the accident.

while I get this, I've never dropped my iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 6, 6s+, or X. Yet one day I was thinking of trading in my iPhone X a year ago, took off the Apple case, and saw that the entire back glass was cracked. I've never been rough with them, and never dropped them, so this made me disappointed in Apple cases. I used the Apple silicon cases on most phones, and wished they were grippier and more durable. They always peel at the bottom near the charging port, resulting in sharp edges.

I got something very similar for my Mom and Sister's XS's, I got the Icarez 3 pack with easy installation tray, left little to no bubbles, was only like $5 and change after taxes, I have a blackweb screen protector on my XS Max since Day 1, but they don't make those anymore, they were so easy to install, the tin was basically the tray, had the cutout of the phone, and the screen protector was easy to lineup, only had to take off the plastic, then put it on, press down, and no bubbles at all. So pissed they don't make them, apparently according to my local Walmart.

Hopefully they bring back the leather case from the 5 with bottom covered seeing as it’s same shape, won’t be a comfy phone to use with no case like the 11” iPad.
If not will get the CarbonThat case I have now.
