I've got 99 problems but the colour of my telephone isn't one.
All this talk of white being top of the food chain makes me laugh. You are truly superior because you have a massive 8gig extra? Good grief.
Truth be told if white had been available in my area at launch I may have gone for it. But it wasn't and I don't care; I look at the front of the phone, not the back.
I don't think anyone said it was the top of the food chain. I think it was said that when you see a white iPhone, you KNOW its a 16gig phone, as that's the only model they make in white. Its sorta like the Xbox Elite, or a Trail-rated Jeep, or a Senna signature motorcycle...its somewhat exclusive (but only because of its color, regardless if you like the color or even agree...otherwise, there'd only be black versions).
I guess its a bling thing. You know those people who buy Escalades then add 22" rims...they want attention. I wouldn't know. I wanted white because it was different and distinctive (and matches my other Apple equipment) AND 16gigs. White was the only way to go, in my case...your mileage may vary, though. In my time on these forums, it does appear that (and this is my view only) that most Apple consumers tend to focus on status. Just look at the threads of people complaining of 5th and 6th returns...they want perfection in a product and justify such returns on the high prices of things such as iPhones.
