I originally wanted black until I heard about the scratching issues so I went with white and couldn't be happier, I think the black is slick and I love the look of it, but the white is fresh and different (I have never bad a white phone b4).

How do people like the op decide important things if they cant choose between black or white?

The black is really sexy, but I still went with white. I don't regret my decision one bit.

I'm a locksmith and had a white 4s. That thing got so dirty it was gross. I cleaned it a lot but it didn't matter. White shows dirt a lot more especially as the phone gets older. So I got black this time. Maybe this will help you decide. It depends on where and how you work, but the black could potentially look cleaner after a longer period of time.

I first had a Black ip5 and loved its nice bluish-black metal case. I thought the black front behind the glass was kind of boring, but overall loved the stealth bomber look of the phone as a whole.

When a friend wanted to get his ip5 and the only option was white, I offered up mine and switched to white because what the hell. Well, I'm very happy with the white now. I have an ipad3 in white and I think they go well together. Thats not a compelling reason to go white, but it was a factor for being willing to do my friend the favor to get him his black ip5.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably pick white as I just like it so much. I still like the black ip5, but have no regrets. I bought the Elago Outfit (black on black) and just love how it "goes" with the white ip5.

If You are worried about scratches DONT get the black because they will happen. This is coming from a guy with a black iP5 in an Otterbox Defender case. #

Personally I went with the black because it looks so sleek. I have read about the scratching issue but I have a case on mine so im not worried about that. Really personal preference I guess. Now all i need to get is the black mini iPad to complete my set!
You got black because it's sleek yet you put a case on it?... Doesn't make much sense to me

Prefer black. White looks ever so slightly feminine. (Unless you are a lady, that is)

White and black are both neutral colors. Meaning it doesn't matter what you choose whether your a boy or a girl.

If you like black, go for black. If you like white, go for white. That's the end of the story.

i bought a black one but i basically didnt have a choice.

i didnt pre-order it, and i couldnt go to the store on launch day until about 6:30pm... so let's say i was pretty screwed lol.

i called my local at&t store the next morning and they had black 32gb's in stock, so i automatically went with that.

i've always had black iphones, besides the 3gs with the white back, but the front was still white, so not sure if that counts.

i love how sleek the black on black on black looks, but i went to the apple store yesterday and the white one does look really clean.

i guess you just have to go to the closest store to you and compare them side by side!

I had the black one and when I saw the white one I sold my black one and bought a white one. The reason I didn't exchange is because apple doesn't allow exchanges just for a different color. So if I were you I would get the white one looks nice and stands out more

I did the exact same thing as this guy, pre-ordered the black because it looked so good on the promotional material, but each time I opened a white I died a little inside. I sold mine as I couldn't exchange through the carrier.
My friend is opposite, she got a white one but her heart breaks when she opens a black one.
(We work in a phone store so we open them all the time).
Just go look at them and decide which one you like better. I imagine you won't be around them or handling them everyday, so once you get it, you can kinda forget about the other colour (until everyone else catches up and gets one!)
