hey guys, just wanted to see what everyone was using before their current MBP. I used to have a 13" Unibody MacBook (Late 2008). 2.0ghz 160gb hd with no illuminated keyboard...before that I also had a Black MacBook from 2007.

The illuminated keyboard is easily my favorite feature of my current MBP, which is a 15" 2.66Ghz Core i7 HR-AG. Quite the leap in power i must say! Even though i only use it for surfing and taking notes lol.

How about you guys?

I had a sony vaio, but it was taken from me at gunpoint in Johannesburg, South Africa.

After that I was given a very small little acer I used until I picked up an old, hand-me-down Powerbook I believe.

Then just last year picked up my refurbed MBP I'm using now. LOVE IT!

17" G4 Powerbook. *sniff* kinda miss that thing. Not the resolution or speed, but it was my first Mac.

An old dell desktop that we still actually have, and a dell laptop that would work if it could get power. Don't particularly miss them though. I don't technically have a MBP, but I'd say it's pretty darn close.

A 3 year old 17" MBP Santa Rosa. It was my first Mac in a long time (previous to that was a Mac Clone from PowerComputing).

An old HP laptop that kept breaking down for no reason and I finally decided to pick up a Macbook Pro and I love it!

I had (actually, still do) a Toshiba Satellite P200-144 before getting the MBP listed below in my signature. That thing was, and still is a legend, 3 years later. It's been through 3 repairs in it's lifetime, and another one is incoming I think, but still. I love it to bits, I'll miss it when it dies 🙁

1 year 17" PowerBook 1.5GHz (was way to big for traveling) >

5 years 15" PowerBook 1.67GHz\2GB\100GB 7200rpm >

6 month 13" MBP 2.53GHz\4GB\500GB 7200rpm

🙂

2007 13" black macbook 2.16 ghz 3 gb ddr2 ram, 160 GB hard drive, and a gma 950 64 MB graphics card it was a sweet little machine

Haha - this is a fun thread...

Before my MacBook Pro, I used a first-generation Mac mini (G4 1.42GHz) which replaced/supplemented (since it wasn't portable, it didn't totally replace) a 12" iBook G3 (600MHz, Late 2001 model), which replaced a Power Mac 7200 and PowerBook 540c combination...

Let's not talk about what I had before those two, otherwise this will need to go into the vintage thread. 🙂

Dell XPS M1330

Was a great laptop until the GPU died one week(I kid you not) out of warranty.
They wanted $800 to fix it so I said **** Dell. I just ordered a new MBP... This will be my first Apple laptop, lets hope it goes better.

HP 17 inch w/ Windows XP. After one too many crashes, extremely slow turn ons and turn offs, I jumped to MBPs two years ago. why I never did it sooner remains a mystery to me.

White Macbook 2.1ghz c2d. The thing was amazing until the case cracked in 3 different places, the combo drive failed and the gpu died. Rocking my new MBP now 😀 15 inch i7 2.66ghz HR AG

I used my Dual 1.8Ghz G5 before my MBP. It still runs 24/7 as my media server though, and sometimes I browse the net with it.

Before that I had a 1.5Ghz PowerBook 15"... my favorite computer of all time 🙂

I have a Alienware m17x-R2 i7 820QM 1.73ghz (3.06 Overclock in Turbo). 6GB RAM. 80GB Intel 25-m SSD. It is only 3 months old. No problems with it. It kicks some Major Booty to be honest.

I just bought a Macbook Pro for a fun to have a different toy. I love it though!

I will shock everyone here by saying... I never really had an big problems with my Windows Machines... certainly nothing worse than any complaints I have seen on here from Mac users.

Thinkpad FTW

Before I got my MBP in '06, I did everything on my Thinkpad i Series 1200 with the 13.3" screen. I love that laptop to death, and it still works just as well as the day I bought it oh so long ago. It may not have the best specs in the world, but it gets the job done. I would gladly buy another Thinkpad without any hesitation.

HP DV6000 laptop. It was on its last leg sadly although it was repaired by HP multiple times in the last semester.

I still have my desktop, My lil bro built it for gaming, I bought it off him for papers and such. I upgraded to 4 gigs of ram, and dual 21" monitors.
