Since the wifi only iPad doesn't have a sim slot, how will you swap?
For me, the aspect that I want upgraded is the display's resolution (I am not talking about a retina display). However, many are saying that they either know or highly doubt there will be any resolution changes. Other than a problem for developers (I know that this is a big deal), why are people so certain?
Don't you love it when they ask "is it worth it" to a bunch of total strangers. We have absolutely no information at all on the next iPad. The first iPad has only been out a couple of months now. Apple is notorious with their secrecy so how would anyone know what features might or might not be present in the next version, much less "is it worth it". Sheesh.
Don't you love it when nerds take time out of their meaningless lives to post a smart-ass remark?

I'm getting a 2nd gen and selling my first gen to my mother for a discounted price. 🙂 Already worked out.
Sorry wasnt too clear. I meant that right now I can swap sims, and soon I can jailbreak and get MyWi again (got my ip4 with 4.0.2 on it). I could use the MyWi with the wifi iPad 2.
As for the resolution, you said it yourself. Changing resolution on a device that is already struggling to get developers to generate enough apps, is not a good business idea. Doing so could only stunt the iPads app store growth. I would like a little bump in resolution myself (spoiled by iPhone 4), but you need to think like apple would. Just doesn't make sense. That is why people are so certain

I expect either iPad 3 or iPad 4 to have Retina Display. Until then, I am not buying new iPad just for video chat.

I'm willing to bet the biggest change we'll see with the 2nd gen is the addition of camera(s)...which isn't a big deal for me, really.
If that's the case, and it's just some minor hardware bumps alongside a new camera module, I'll pass.

If the main added feature is a camera, I'll probably just pick up a second 1st Generation iPad off Craigslist or Refurbished. I have like 3-4 cameras around me all the time. Don't really need another one. (especially if Apple does an iChat-to-Facetime plugin for Mac.)

I don't feel any compelling need to replace mine. If it does something I need then sure. Say they add some RAM and a better CPU, and my favorite app developer moves on.. then yeah. But I don't see that happening (the latter).

I think the front facing camera for webcam usage (facetime, skype, msn etc) and extra ram is an automatic upgrade for me.
Many are saying "I can't remember the last time I used my webcam" or "I already have a camera or 10" probably misunderstand the purpose of having a camera on the iPad. It's definitely not for taking pictures.
It simply fits. To me, the iPad is a netbook replacement. Netbooks are great for browsing, chatting, and video conferencing... and pretty much nothing else. As a general purpose "connectivity" device, imagine the iPad 2 being able to send video messages or for those who are into it... youtube video blogs.

As others have said it depends on the update. A probable gryo and a slightly improved A4 chip won't do it for me, and I don't even care about a front facing camera. Now if they came out with a 7 inch version that does everything the current 10 inch with 3g does then I would be interested in buying that. Otherwise I see the next version as being just an incremental upgrade. Maybe version 3.
I was able to skip the 3GS in the iPhone line, so I figure I can skip the next iPad. Even if they come out with a 7" one that would be better for reading books (for me). $730 is too much to just pass off to someone else in under a year.

I wouldn't use face time at this point in my life so I cant see myself wanted to upgrade to a new iPad.

It will all come down to the screen and output for me. If they add MiniDP out or increase the screen resolution to 2048 X 1536, then yes. Otherwise, I'll wait for 2012, assuming the world is not over by that point.

If the new one only has a front facing camera, no. I only have a few friends who have face time and would never use it.
But if the year round update brings a front/back camera, speed boost, more RAM and what not. Then yes.

Ipad i think 75-80%of people will upgrade to ipad 2 because ipad 1 dosent have retina display a4 chip 5mp cam and face time nor flash player and the new iphone 4 and touch has alot of them features which ipad dosent because it was released back in april

75%-80% will upgrade because they want to and your argument does not make much sense. There is no proof that the Retnina Display will make it to the second gen iPad so your inclusion of this technology is moot. The current iPad does have the A4 chip (look here: http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/). Very easy to find. No Apple iDevices have Flash and probably never will. I do not think you know what you are talking about. As for Facetime and a cam, we all will have to wait until it is official.
