Well if you got the phone in 8th grade you were absolutely spoiled. Who the hell gets their kid a $70 a month phone plan and a $600 phone when they're in 8th grade.

I don't recall asking what you thought about it, but my mom. It was on a family plan so it was merely $20 more a month- I sold that phone when I got my 3G. However, I'm still debating what to do with my 3G when my 3GS comes on Friday.

So in the last three years, at a very young age, your parents bought you a $600 phone, then a $300 phone, and now a $500 phone...
I get the spoiled remark here... If someone quotes me here, they will see my remarks and my plans will have been foiled again!

I know after I got the iphone on launch day, my friends and family were using my phone more than me, Id whip it out at lunch to use, and my friends would ask to see it, and I pretty much got it back with a dead battery..... oh the joys :p

You almost hit the nail on the head. I sold the first gen iPhone for $410 on eBay, which went towards the 3G and the rest towards my MacBook Pro. The 3GS is a late birthday present though...turned 16 last week.

You still got a $600 phone that cost $70 a month (even on a family plan) when you were thirteen. I know plenty of parents with huge incomes who won't even buy their sixteen year old a car because they feel that if you give a kid nice stuff all the time they'll never learn the value of hard work and self restraint (saving up for a long time to get what you want versus having it handed to you).

So, ya, you're spoiled.

If you didn't want the comments then you shouldn't have volunteered that you got an iphone when you were in 8th grade.

I don't understand why it bothers you so much since apparently you know best and my parents know nothing, despite them having started two companies and put two other kids through college with no problems. Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing or can we go on our way here?

I was 14 and data was $20 a month, btw.

It doesn't bother me at all, it's a free country. I'm sure there are 8 year olds running around with iphones who are spoiled too.

Simply my take on the matter. You were the one who said that people said "you're spoiled" when you get an iphone in the 8th grade. I'm simply agreeing that you are in fact spoiled.

Your parents starting two companies, etc, doesn't mean that you are any less spoiled for getting an iphone when you were in middle school.

In my family we've always worked for our stuff, even if the family could afford to provide something. My wife's a dentist and I'm an engineer, and I still don't see us giving our kids lots of top of the line free crap, especially not at 14 years old.

Seriously!

I had just walked out of the apple store, holding my sterile and beautiful apple masterpiece. I walked into a store that sold teapots, and immediately, some random teenager looks down at me and says, "Thats the iPhone?!" I nodded, and he told me I was awesome.

Only in New Jersey!

"This sucks. You should come back to Verizon. Our phones are better!"

All the while she had my phone and was playing with it and surfing the net. She's retarded and an Asst. Mgr. for Verizon. I could tell she had iPhone envy! :p

Better than p***s envy!~

I was going to say Genius envy. LMAO...:D

***I'm a female.

It's pretty funny though. I purchased a macbook in Dec and took it with me when I was visiting. She LOVED it. Now, suddenly, she had to go out and buy a mac...even though Apple "sucks"

"i can't believe you paid $600 for a f-in cell phone! can i play with it?!"

bought on launch day. of course, i always bought unlocked phones when they first came out so i was used to paying premium prices. most people just didn't realize i was paying so much. not like i care. it's my money and i can do with it what i please.

You don't know what I do/what I don't do what I pay for/what I don't pay for, etc. Until then, you're not in a position to call me that, and I'd greatly appreciate it if you didn't, thank you. Now that you've stated you're a parent, grow up and stop attempting to lecture a 16 year old on a Mac forum. Your statements pretty much went in one ear and out the other.

I don't know if you know, but a car is much more expensive and much more expensive monthly than an iPhone.
Its also only a three year difference.

And that means **** about spoiled. Some of the wealthiest kids I know, and believe me. They are VEEEERY wealthy. Have the best manners and are the least spoiled.

Just 'cause he has an iPhone doesn't mean he is spoiled.
