I still have my sweet 2G and plan to keep it. One of my favorite purchases of all time.

God these threads are stupid...You sell it, wtf else are you going to do with it?

Nice to put your assumptions on everyone.

Some people like to make their old iPhone into:

1. JB & Unlock it and make it a world phone
2. Make it into an iPod touch and give it to a friend/whoever
3. Pass it down for someone else to use as a phone.

I uses it as our family ipod..which is plugged into a dock to the a/v receiver in the basement. i control it using an app from my new iphone..music is played through the inbuilt speaker all over the house..love it..no need to go down to change the songs!!

SIM card?

What the heck are talking about?
It's very easy to completely wipe your iPhone.
Simply restore it with a clean OS install.
It's flash memory, not magnetic. Nothing for anyone to recover.

An update leaves crap behind, a restore wipes the memory clean.

I know this is going to be a dumb question, but I have never sold a phone before--do you keep or toss the SIM card before selling?

Sold my refurb iPhone 3G (Originally $150) for $200 to subsidize my $200 iPhone 4. I sold it to my classmate who uses it on TMO.

That's basically what I did. Bought my 2G refurb for $150 in 2008 then sold it on eBay for $300 a year later. With the proceeds got a new 3G for $150 and looking to sell it for around $250. Wont be going towards a iPhone 4 tho. It's going towards Samsung Intercept for Virgin Mobile.

Launch day 16gb 3G - sold for £155 on Envirofone in September.

Pretty good price seeing as it had a crack near the headphone socket and the simcard tray was broke.

Toss it.

I gave mine to my mother. It was still in perfect condition. I should have kept it till her B-day later this week so I could give it to her as her present, now I have to get her another B-day present.

I'm still keeping my old trusted 2G, sold my 3G and 3GS away. I do plan to keep my iPhone 4 next time though, the design is ...
