Funny-- I was actually wondering what will get on my ipod when I order it, and I was leaning towards:

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be crazy by those who could not hear the music."

I just checked and it looks like it won't fit...alas.

What does engraving look like on a black iPod?

The back is polished silver in color regardless of the facing color, I think.

LOL. At first I was like "wow how did he fit all this in the alloted 2 lines?!!"

40GB iPod etched with 'Das Lied Schläft In Der Maschine'

I wanted to get engraved "this iPod is stolen" but i thought in the off chance that the person who it finds may have an easier time of contacting me by putting my Full name and my email address. I was really against the whole engraving thing. I even argued against why i wouldn't get it, furthermore i ordered one without the engraving.......and then i cancelled the order because i remembered how pissed off i was when my last ipod got stolen and thought only if i had put something on there the person stealing it will be less likely to get top dollar when selling, he wont put it on ebay without making serious scratches of his own thus lowering the value, probably will be too stupid to buy a replacement backing to put on his own.

So I essentially got the engraving to screw whoever is the person who steals my iPod, and to provide a way for someone to blackmail me out of some cash /reward money to get it back if it is found by someone semi-respectable.

I guess these are all really pessimistic views, but if its happened once.........

Hmm...I can't actually post what I put on my ipod in MR.

Let's just say I buddied up to the guy on the phone and he was able to kinda circumvent the expletive filters.

oh, fine....here's another hint/giveaway:

In the unlikely event I'm eating in a restaurant and I have to toss my ipod in a black garbage bag due to an armed robbery, I can grab the robber (aka "Ringo"), whip out my gun, and ask him to pull it out of the bag. When asked which one is mine? I can respond: It's the one with Bad M_____ F______ on it (a la Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction) :D

I am typically in a perpetual good mood, but even the thought of someone else walking around with my $300 item that i worked hours for at whatever job at the time makes me think of a louisville slugger(I posted this same thought in another thread about my old iPod)

P.S. I got an idea since you won't worry and will remain happy, can i jack your ipod?
:p

i got my name and phonenumber engraved on my nano. if i lose it, maybe a honest finder calls me and if it gets stolen i'm hoping to make the resell a lot harder.

Well, don't change your phone number. lol.

With that attitude, I should engrave mine something really gay, so as to lessen the pool of potential iPod buyers because my iPod is so damned gay. lol. Like "To my biggest gay, / Love, xoxo, Cher" :D

I wanted to have this engraved on my new 60g Black iPod, as to me this sums up what the music I listen to is all about.

"Before you play two notes learn how to play one note-
and don't play one note unless you've got a reason to play it"

But obviously as it's too long they won't engrave it. I can't understand why they don't allow extra engraving for a small price. There is enough real estate on the back of an iPod to put in extra letters. I see they can even engrave corporate logos for large orders but not a few extra letters for small consumers. :( :( :(

Rotten Apple...

I finally talked my roomie into buying an iPod. She got a 4 gb green mini and since she's a PC-user she had "Rotten Apple" engraved on the back!

Sigh...I'll get her switched completely over to macs one of these days.

"The buttons are on the other side, dumbass!"

"Warning: this iPod contains heavy metal"

Alas, I ended up being boring and put:

"Help! I'm lost, please mail .....@hotmail.com"

hmmm I play piano and I dont get the part about not playing a note untill you have a reason to play it. Go with before you play two notes learn to play one. Im also thinking it would be sweet if you could get pictures or symbols engraved.

absolutely ;)

My 40GB has my name on the first line and the second line says "Hey it's just rock and roll". My Shuffle didn't have the option to get engraved at the time.
