How are the Dells compared to the ACD?
They look pretty nice, even if they aren't build that good. But what about the image quality?

Do you mean quality or colour accuracy?

Technically speaking the TFT panels are the same model between the ACD and Dell 3008WFP but a newer revision in the Dells. The main difference is the drive circuitry... I don't think they're as refined as the ACD's are cause when it comes to colour calibration, I find them a little more difficult to colour match.

For instance, the right Dell matches the ACD 99.9% but compared to the left Dell, it's a touch warmer visually. I'm not sure is it because the left dell is powered by the 8800 GT and all the others are running of the ageing ATI 3870..

Anyway, the left display is used for surfing the web mostly... while the centre and right display is used for work!! Yep, I work from home.

Awesome setup, UltraNEO*. I wish I had enough desk space for something like that. Unfortunately, I'm in a studio and a single 3007WFP-HC is all I can have...

I wish I would've waited and purchased one of the 30" monitors with more inputs, but, overall, I'm very happy with the image and desktop real estate. It was a huge leap from my previous 24".

Hehe... I used to have a tiny desk, struggling to put two displays on one top. Now, my new desk consist of two 200 by 90mm laminated glass work tops, they're about 12mm thick and weighs in at 56.7Kg each. All four displays are wall mounted.

....Actually, to the left of the left Dell there's a MacBookPro 17" and another display, though this is only a Dell 2408wfp... plus a G5 and a Core i7 PC.

Oh, you mean something like this?

*Not my best picture. School's wreaked my cleanliness, too. Literally, quick 'n' dirty picture.

Yes, I am constricted for space, but I'm going to be moving out inna few months, so I'm going to tolerate the space (and the walls) slightly longer.

Anyways UltraNEO, what is the box beneath the ACD and the left Dell? Just a wee bit curious there.

That's getting there.. Though my second 30" monitor was frightening close to the edge.

That's my audio interface.

Well, I'm glad I don't have 30"s in this case. Cable management also is a PITA where I'm at (as the noticeable cabling in my pic's background, I had to put my machine+more on top of a bookshelf!)

Thanks for the info. I'm especially liking the optical and 1394 ports.

Who needs desk space? :rolleyes::D:p

I just have a large desk so all my crap can sit happy on it... But man, having a large desk ain't always a good thing, as I'm always looking for my damn keys.

It's a pity I can't select more than one option on the poll.

Currently I have three displays; two of them happen to be 30" Dells and one 30" ACD in the middle. Originally, I wanted all three of them to be Cinema Displays but they're kinda restrictive due to their lack of inputs.

That's some serious monitor porn. And two MPs too (or is one of those a PM?)! Work from home, hey? I see that Wii hiding behind the right 3008. :D

Shoot! You got me. Yeah.. There's a first gen PS3 next to it, they're all connected to the right Dell, hence a huge group of cables running towards the wall... Just means I can play some online games while the Mac is busy crunching video. The little thin grey wire is the WII's Wiimote sensor which I've tacked to the base of the Dell.

Err... Well, the one on the left is a PMG5 2Ghz (it's waiting to be resold/dismantled),
to the right is an '08 MP 3.2 (siggy for details) and next to that is it's slower brother, a headless '08 MP 2.8 which is XGrid enabled. Both are equipped with 2.78TB RAID5 Arrays.

For now:
1, 23" ACD
1, Dell 2408 WFP REV3 for rough color grading
Will be getting a Plasma soon for client presentation of HD vids.
Wish I could afford a decent color grading monitor:rolleyes:

wow that is a serious power/funhouse. good work UltraNEO and great pics to boot.

Dell U2410.

I'll get another one of those eventually and double up. It's not that high on my list of "crap I don't need but will buy anyways"

How good is this one? I am thinking about it but there is no store in Toronto where I can actually see/test it.

I like it alot. I bought it based off reviews online (since there's no place to see it in person around here either) and I'm pleased. Colors seem good and if the Sun ever dies out, just launch one of these suckers into orbit with the brightness turned up to 100 and we'll be fine. I'm not a professional photographer or video editor so I can't comment on some things like color reproduction because I don't require everything to be perfect in that sense, but from what I can tell, it seems to do an excellent job.

And Dell's support is good too. My first one had a single stuck pixel, and they replaced it no questions asked.

I'm not a fan of having things wall mounted because I have a tendency to move things around every now and then and I really don't like putting holes in my walls. This is an old building and the walls are cement...

I also have a Dell 2407 way to the left that's connected to my Mac mini. It remains off 99% of the time. The Mac mini just just runs iTunes (to share its library), PS3 Media Server (which streams content from my NAS to my Xbox 360), and some emulators. The only time the 2407 is on is when I play some old MAME games (I have an X-Arcade Solo arcade stick sitting directly in front of it).

Actually, when I first moved into this building, I used to swap and change things about every few months, guess i was looking for the perfect spot to work comfortably in, during that time I realised I hate working with the exit behind me - call it paranoia

Now, I've learnt and realised the best place is near the window cause there's a radiator there to help keep my feet warm :) plus during the day, I get daylight and I'm able to see what's going on outside and who's visiting (clients). Access to books and resources is easier too, no dashing across the other side of the studio for materials, tripping over things.. lol Unfortunately, the heat from the displays, especially the three Dells and Mac's make my room warm, unusually warm, typically about 27~28°C, meanwhile outside could be -1°C (winter).

Technically a PC bench but as you can see it's dominated with more Mac's.. In all I think there's about ten systems here, plus a few PowerBooks and MacBookPro's - in this room alone, Then there's another four systems dotted around the other parts of the building. lol Excluding some collectables: Macintosh Classic (System 6) with a faulty floppy SuperDrive  dismantled but working Macintosh Colour Classic (system 7.5), a boxed PowerMac 7500 (System 8.6) with PPC604 upgrade (formerly used as Print server)

Apple, please gimme a discount, I'm a loyal client. :D:D

Holy moly!!! That's a lot of computers!! I finally got rid of my last PowerPC Mac back in January. Well, I still have an old PowerBook Pismo, but I'm not even going to bother selling it because I doubt I can get anything for it...

My MacBook sits next to my bed when I'm too lazy to make the 10 feet trek to my desk. lol

I have been playing with the thought of picking up either a Fit PC2 or Artigo A1000 to play with, though. Either of these should be small enough to be mounted behind the 2407.
