Design layouts for the website I'm eventually going to make, each time saying "this time I'm just going to finish the layout then I'll program everything and turn it into an actual website," then "this layout sucks I need to redo it." Rinse, repeat.

The iMac is really doing nothing lately since we ran out of storage space. There are only so many drives that can attach to the thing.

The Mac Pro is now being used to store all the great iTunes movies and music and HD movies purchased elsewhere. It's also used for internet of course and maybe converting an occasional movie to put on the iPhone. The 23" ACD is great for watching HD movies on! :D

-Facebook (Fluid)
-MacRumors (Fluid)
-Surf the Web (Safari)
-Write up Papers for school (MS Word '08)
-Emulate N64 (Project64/CrossOver)
-Listen to music (iTunes/Boxee/Airfoil)

-SSH into iPhone a lot for apps (CyberDuck)
-Torrent (Transmission)

i pretty much use every program heavily on my little beauty.

on the Mac Mini i use it basically as my home theatre with programs like:

-Boxee
-Front Row
-XBMC
-Plex
-Safari

i try to switch it up from time to time just to not get bored. but Boxee (for interface) and Front Row (for photos and music) are winning right now when it comes to home theatre use.

aaand when i really want to watch a long HD movie (in 720 or 1080p) i just use Quicktime to save processor usage.

:) hope that wasn't too much

it doesnt look right lol!!

why not use Plex for watching HD movies??? MUCH better than anything else

i fixed it.

and i honestly hate Plex i think it is overly complicated and isn't as streamlined as per say... Boxee - and of course, front row.

plus as you can see in my sig, my mini is only a 1.66GHz ICD.

so last time safari was running, and iTunes was playing an HD movie, i was getting in the 130% MAX Processor usage ranges when loud music and fast visuals were occuring.

it gets down to 100% while using only quicktime and closing all other apps and disabling dashboard.

i am honestly on a hunt for something that looks like boxee - yet has the iPhoto slideshows built in and doesn't take up 23% of my Processor usage just idling.

ok thats fair enough, each to his own..

my experience with Plex is - it is the ONLY application that i can find to play my 1080p BR rips on my CD MBP. everything else stutters, QT, iTunes, VLC etc.. so its my only option.

you really do get used to the interface, it is quite efficient and very easy to access (wish the remote would work with it effectively but).

oh and it doesnt use any CPU while idling :p

- Just enjoying everything. I try to get the most out of my Mac. Being picky about every little thing. From my dashboard layout, dock layout, wallpaper, adium skin, how my folders are in order, tagging galore!

My latest love has been the dashboard widget harmonic. I nearly crapped my self when i saw not only did it show me iTunes song lyrics in dashboard, it added them into iTunes aswell!

ect ect.

On the Mac side of things:
  • A bit of Websurfing here and there, with the occasional break for a YouTube tidbit.
  • iTunes (loved it ever since it first came out for Windows, it was my "gateway drug" into the Apple realm).
  • GarageBand as a music sketchpad.
  • Sound Studio for final mastering of music.
  • The occasional HandBrake rip.
  • Various other things on more infrequent occasions.

On the XP side of things via Boot Camp:
  • Music production using Cakewalk SONAR. I save the final mixdown on an external hard drive, and master using Sound Studio.
If Roland ever ports Cakewalk to the Mac, I'll ditch Windows for good. I don't see that happening anytime soon, though.

Rather than (probably) buying 2 iMac's in the same period this will last the same amount of time. I have room for internal HDD's which I like for backups, I can put up to 32GB of RAM in it, and it actually only cost me £1636 (corporate discount), which isn't a whole lot more than a top end iMac.

Same here. Octo mac pro 2.8. 1899. Just the same as a high end iMac, but I expect to keep it forever. After some wheeling and dealing I ended up getting it for 1600 new. After I sold all my other computers to narrow it down to just the MP and MBP, I ended up making money.

i use my iPhone as a remote, and with boxee it really shines. i don't like to have the IR in sight to use the remote on my mini.

we are straying off topic here a little... aaaand speaking of earning a living i make about an extra 1,000$ a month from eBay and Craigslist.

don't be so proud :)

i dont have to worry about the IR being a problem either, bceause i use my Nokia E65 to control my mac :) it runs off the wireless network and i can do anything with my computer as long as im in range (check emails, change songs, change play lists, open programs, lots of things)..

so yea basically like having the iPhone i guess.

Mainly chat/surf the net/listen to itunes/do assignments thats it. I wish I could learn web design again! my HTML skills are back in 97 :(
