What do you do with your laptop if you need to leave it?

OK, just a funny side story- I met a friend at a local bar tonight. We had a few and decided to go home. We walked half a mile when I realized I had left my iBook G4 in it's bag at the bar! I RAN back to the bar to find it just where I left it-in a booth adjacent to the bar. The place was crowded, but no one had sat there. I think my iBook was trying to protect herself until daddy got back to get her. 🙂 Anyway, we watched the latest episode of Battlestar Galactica on the bus ride home and all was good. 🙂

I'm packing that thing up and its going with me to the bathroom..I don't care, people hands are hot these days.

If its my iBook I will put it in its bag and take it with me.

If its my Dell (from work) I'll leave it where it is and hope someone nicks it.

at Starbucks now. Have to pee bad. Debating on whether to bring my MBA with me or leaving it on the table. But at the library I always bring it with me to to the bathroom.

So, today I was working at the library and I saw some guy get up to go use the bathroom and he just left his laptop on the table alone, without locking it or anything. This isn't the first time I've seen this at the library - at least two people a week leave their laptop alone on the table. What do you do with your laptop when you have to go somewhere in a public place?

I do not leave my laptop like that never, I am not an idiot waiting for my things to get stolen... just common sense.

Obviously these people need a brain, well, they are already at the library but it seems they are not getting it.

If I'm at home or in a public place with friends I lock it then just leave it

If I'm out alone with my laptop, if I have to get up I put it in it's bag.

There's no way I'm going to ever risk having 1200$ stolen from me.
