lol, I like those type of tests, its like "Lets take a bullet that I just doubled the powder in, and shoot me while i'm wearing a bullet proof vest that I just modified by making it weaker"

But I guess most CPUs shut down if they are too hot, but some actually melt themselves due to by thermometers.

I use to have a wall of death here at work that had exploded/burn/smashed electronics nailed/pinned to it--burnt cpus are common ;).

My prized piece was done by an old coworker. He took the top plate off of an old HD and then used the power plug and converter from an external cd-writer to give it power--we now have a spinning shiny HD disk on our wall .

Wooppeee! Got my 4th Mac folding at 5 min. to midnight, and then I passed out. After getting five 9 pointers in a row on my QS 1.26GHz G4 , i was hoping for a small one on the B&W 350 G3, but noooo. It landed a 65 pointer.. looks like 25 DAYS to finish. Is the % finished Linear? it seems like they go faster towards the end, but it might be a perception muddled by Human Emotions. If I'm Running the same type of Client, can i stop folding, swap folders between machines and restart? Ahhh .... A Vision .... A Multitude of Macs Feeding the insatiable Maw of my QUICKSILVER.....:D

Next Project: folding on the Pismo.... I'll keep you posted...

I have a Celeron 500 folding slowly, an Athlon XP 1800+ folding very fast and an occasional 1GHz G4 folding occasionally. Why, even when running flat out, is the Athlon so much faster than the G4?
Anyway, all for the good of the team!

I have 3 of my 4 Macs finishing up a WU between midnight monday and the wee hours of Wednesday for a total of 193 points to add to my 460 current total! Is it OK to count your WUs before they Hatch? I'm Running Jaguar into my Pismo right now , should have it folding later today!

How long are those PCs on, I get about 100 points a day with my 2 Athlon boxes, I would think you would be getting at least 500 points a day with those PCS.

Have not been counting the daily points, but now on 1864, and have only been going for a few weeks. Machines run 24/7.

I think if you leave those on overnight we could retake the Knights :). If you turn the monitors off it shouldn't take too much power.

Just Started My Pismo 400 G3 Folding, Console Client, and it landed a 52 Point WU for it's Maiden Fold!

The Wife's iMac FP 700 G4 finished it's 72 Point WU @ 3:30 AM, so I switched it from the Graphic to the Console (finally) and it's landed a 65 Pointer. Logged in and out of our three users, and sure enough, it was folding the whole time. should give me hours more folding time a day !

Now I just need to get the QuickSilver running console with a local directory on my QuickiDisk USB Key drive so my hard drives can spin down all night ( hopefully )

Folding is diease research that when on using your IDLE processing power.

Idle CPU is the part of the CPU your computer is not using, then Folding uses that.

There is a FAQ here
