i hate the frikin metal back. wouldn't apple save money by giving the ipod touch an iphone plastic back? just that it would be printed with different info but yeah. wouldn't they money cuz plastic is cheaper than metal? also, the battery life just suck when u play apps. it should be a bigger/ better battery. other than that, im lovin' it( ironically, i hate McDonalds, the place that came up with that saying)

The next ones are rumored to be 16, 32, 64GB which makes a lot of sense. An 8GB Touch is pretty lean if you want a few app's and a video or two. Space along w. the OS is shot. I never could understand an 8GB Touch.

I only have about 4.5 GB of music, no videos, and about 1 GB of photos. Still have 1.5 GB free on my 8 GB Touch, it's not really an issue.

The only thing I don't like about my iPod Touch 2G 16GB, is that I don't know how to overclock/underclock it :D lol

Camera + Mic + better battery life + fast switching between battery saving settings in the OS would be appreciated

Kind Regards

That would be awesome if you could over/underclock the ipod! Wouldn't really help the problem with the crappy battery though. It might last one hour if you overclock it. LOL:D

Apple charging for updates.
No color options. Give me a Touch-Chromatic.
The LCD screen. Give me OLED.
Apple.:apple:
The price.
Fingerprints.
The weight of it.

Other than those reasons, I love my Touch! :D
That's pretty much me too. Why pay $10 for 3.0 when, if you have an iPhone, you can get it for free?!?!?!?
I had a 4g Nano and lost it, so i do miss the color options.
I'm not sure what the difference is between LED and OLED, but my guess is OLED is easier on the eyes...
As far as Apple-Couldn't agree more. Their products are some of the best computers and electronics EVER, but the company is hideous. I don't know EXACTLY what it is, but I hate Apple as a company.
I agree on the fingerprints issue too. Doesn't the 3GS have some fingerprint-resistant screen or something?

OLED does cost more and the input/yield rate is very low compared to LCDs. iPhones get updates for free because they pay a monthly bill , which pays for the development cost. The oleo-phobic coating was just introduced, about 1 year after the 2G iPod touch was. I think Apple may put that coating on the new iPod touches once they are released.

I dislike Microsoft as a company, but so far I don't think it's "hideous". How's is any company hideous? Apple wins design awards year after year while even Lenovo and Sony bite the dust.

- No FLAC support
- Metal back
- Flimsy..:( (Atleast the first generation is..)
- Expensive for its real worth, esp compared to other portable DAPs (digital audio players)
- No OLED screen.. (yet?)
- Bad apple support
- Would appreciate higher audio quality but the ipod touch is also a consumer device so that doesn't weigh in much, I can always go and get a cheaper and better more audiophile-esque DAP (which is what I'll do next time)

Other than that it's a good device. I don't really need the Safari and App Store and everything, and maybe that's why I'm not appreciating it more, but because of that I see its flaws much more clearly. If it was 3G-compatible I would definitely put all its features to full use.

the 'this accessory will not charge' screen that pops up every effing time i plug it into my fm transmitter.

I tend to dislike the dictatorial control Apple maintains. Apple has a very "You can only do it if we approve of it" mentality.

Thou shalt not jailbreak
Thou shalt not multitask
Developers shall not speak badly of Apple or even discuss the NDA
Thou shalt not use anything other than iTunes
Thou shalt not connect to iTunes with anything other than Apple products.
Thou shalt not add codecs
Thou shalt not use any software without giving Apple a cut.
Thou shalt not write software (even a frickin' email app) that competes with Apple.
Thou shalt not question Apple's application acceptance policy.
Thou shalt not control the connector
Thou shalt not change the UI in any meaningful way.

Imagine what would happen if Microsoft did this.
***** PLEASE don't turn that into an Apple vs. MS bashing thing.
***** Microsoft has their own issues (and I have no interest is
***** listing the obvious).

Apple's corporate culture...hardware, software, PR... everything... is kind of "Corporate control freak." There are benefits and drawbacks to it.

NO "FLASH"when surfing the net.
I think that would just make the battery life shorter like it does on computers. I'm a no flash at all type person. It would be much less of a problem if web designers would not go over the top with flash.

Why so negative?

My first gen is definitely showing its age with respect to modern games on the app store. Even with Tap Tap Revenge it will lag a tiny bit and I will tap wrongly.

I just had a brain fart for a game on iPod/IPhone touch control. I cannot code if my life depended on it. Can a game concept be patented??

Actually Apple has been burned a long time ago ... and I feel the hurt is still there no matter how funny their jokes are at Microsoft. However your points above show them to be so much like the Orwellian floating & controlling face in the 1984 commercial.

hate that lack of multi tasking thing where I have to close and app to get to the home screen then wait a while for the app to reopen. I hate that its not snappy. I also hate that accelerometer thing in music. It never works right and most of the time crashes or freezes my ipod if I hold it sideways.

Hate having to jailbreak to get any decent use of my ipod. That involves theming, ssh, etc

handling

slippery and very hard to keep steady in hand. fingerprints drive me nuts and drop it while trying to clean it .
paying for the case that you have to buy .

The last two posters ... sounds like you want a smart phone, not a smarter phone.

Hopefully Apple will listen and make slight adjustments that just wows the industry again. Maybe not a "Task Manager" but an ever present Dock not too unlike WebOS in the Pre for managing open applications ~ even with a 5 application limitation I think most power users would be happy.

- Metal backing
- Not enough space, my first gen has less then 500MB left
- No OLED screen

Those are about it right now.
