Not totally correct...

iLife and Leopard are two completely seperate products that will just happen to be bundeled on new Macs.

What will happen is that come January iLife '07 will be introduced. Soon after all new Macs will ship with it (and Tiger). Some people may find iLife '06 installed and the '07 installation disks in the box (quickly added before dispatch). They will have to install iLife 07 themselves. This happened when i bought my G4 1.42 Mini - newer iLife install disks in the box.

Then - say around March-April Leopard ships. Within weeks all new Macs will ship with both Leopard and iLife '07.

I said the same thing, just didn't go in to detail.

However, if you buy the Leopard upgrade to install on a machine you own already, then you will not get iLife '07. You have to buy iLife '07 as a seperate upgrade. When I put Tiger on that Mini it did not upgrade iLife. Leopard will be no different.

ILife is not part of OS X.

When I bought Tiger for my iBook, iLife '05 was included, so in my experience I didn't have to buy the new version of iLife after buying the new OS.

I'd really like to see a higher capacity Nano: about 16-20 gigs. If that materializes I'll get rid of my 60 gig 5G iPod I got last Christmas. On a recent trip back to the US from Germany, I went crazy trying to find a song, having to scroll forever.

This wouldn't be an issue, if there were some cool new interface to search for songs on the iPod.

I'm fairly sure my Mom will buy us Leopard, and I __might__ get an iPhone if it's either cheap, or has mad features like the O2 XDA Exec.

iPhone
Santa Rosa MacBook (Pro) - this will also have Leopard and iLife '07
iWork '07 Family Pack
BT Keyboard
New 20" Cinema Display, if they have bumped resolution

The only thing that is completely sure is the iPhone, but if I decide to get a MacBook Pro, since my MB has discoloration and whine, I will also get an ACD and BT keyboard...:D

iWork familypack as soon as my mom/dad/brother switches.;)

I'm hoping to buy a new computer next fall (trying to hold out as long as possible with my current 1Ghz eMac). If I could hold out until Spring 2008, that'd be great.

Like many people, I'm frustrated by the Apple lineup. I'd like something headless, but the mini has its problems. The biggest problem to me is the expensive, small hard drives. 160GB isn't all that much, and it's nice having most things on the main internal hard drive. Lack of a non-integrated video card isn't compelling either.

The iMac is nice, but ideally I'd like the iMac guts for a few hundred dollars less without a monitor.

For example, this is my current dilemma (I do not want a combo drive):

Mini, 1.83Ghz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD, Superdrive $1074
iMac, 2.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD, Superdrive $1199

For $125, faster computer, graphics card, monitor. But what I'd really like is the same computer without the monitor for less money.

I hope to buy the iPhone, or whatever it'll be called. But if I am to buy it, the iPhone will need to have a full qwerty keyboard. So in extension, I hope Apple comes out with an iPhone that's not just a phone, but also a "communicator", like a Treo or a BlackBerry. My aging BlackBerry 7230 is ready for a replacement, and if Apple doesn't do it the way I need, I'll get a BlackBerry 8800.

I'll also keep my eyes on iWork '07. I enjoyed iWork '05, and want a Universal version. I skipped '06 because by the time I got the MacBook it was already in the middle of it's lifespan, and I'd like a bit more features than '06 offers over '05.

That I will buy Leopard is a given, of course.

When I bought Tiger for my iBook, iLife '05 was included, so in my experience I didn't have to buy the new version of iLife after buying the new OS.

Didn't steve say something about everything being included in the next version of the OS (ie Leopard). I certainly got the impression that iLife would be bundled with the OS. Maybe I need to go back and check the keynote.

Edit: My mistake, he was just referring to photo booth and frontrow.

How abouuuuut... nothing?

You forgot to include "Nothing. I don't plan to make a purchase from Apple in 2007."

Slim outside chance of purchasing:
- MacBook Pro and 23" Cinema, dependant on pricing.

definatly leaport maybe a new 'pod and iphone. ilife and iwork depending on the new features. cant really think of anything else

I'd have ordered it already...

I'm most looking forward to buying a NEW XServe RAID.

I need storage but it killed me to put in an order for an XServe RAID. I can't afford a SAN from anyone else so Apple's solution is it.. but it's STILL PATA. What the hell. It was almost enough to not buy one. If I could have had the same flexibility and expandability for the same price from another vendor I'd have passed on the XServe RAID.

Right now, I've got my new fileserver/backup metadata controller in and my RAID arrives this comming week. I'll limp along without purchasing another one tough. Half the current will run RAID5 w/ hot swap for the meta-data. I'll probably migrate the production data to a better XServe RAID when Apple finally get's around to making a modern version of the XServe RAID and I'll use the 2nd half of the PATA box for migrating near-line data to that device.

ffakr.

As much as I can!!!!!!

iPhone as long as it is unlocked
iLife '07
Leopard DEFINITELY can't resist OS upgrades for some reason
iTV
video iPod if I can persuade the missus............
any other nice suprises they have for us!
Oh and a projector (not expecting an apple one obviously!)

BTW, will it be as stable as OSX 10.4.8?

Just out of reality and past experience...if you buy it on launch day and upgrade to 10.5.0, expect some crashes and incompatibility. But within a month or two at most, it will be very stable. If you want more stability, don't upgrade (install clean) and be selective about using apps known to play nice at the time with Leopard.
