Consider the 13" MacBook Air. You get a higher screen resolution (same as the 15" MBP), faster SSD hard drive, and lighter body. If you can live without a built in DVD drive, I think its a better value.

Don't get me wrong but I would take the extra HD space and potential for upgrading over super portability and speed... But it would be nice to have!

MBP 13 seems like you get more value out of it. That's where I'm at right now, I'm at a crossroads where I'm trapped between the 13 and 15.

The thing that appeals me about the 13 is that it is significantly cheaper than the 15 inch. I could use the extra cash for accessories and AppleCare. Also, it fulfills my needs. I prefer having a DVD drive because it will be my main CPU.

The 15 inch because its bigger and better in screen resolution. And since I currently own a 15" MBP, I've grown used to the benefits of having a larger screen. I don't mind the size, I am sure the newer ones are lighter and more improved than my 5 year old. The new processor and potential to make it into an even better computer sounds appetizing.

I just don't know if spending an extra $500 will be worth it. Currently, I'm leaning more towards getting the 13 because of the value you get out of the price.

And right now, Apple is offering a refurb 13" MBP 2.4GHz for $1049. Compared to a refurb 15" MBP 2.53GHz i5 at $1699.

It's portable, runs OS X, its reliable (let me expand: its fast, I can do what i want without worrying about anything ... like on my old laptop things would crash from low hardware, etc) , it runs cool (my old laptop would heat itself up and blast the fans even when you were in the BIOS for 5 minutes), it has a very good battery, looks amazing, portable, backlight keyboard ... I'm missing so many things but I have to go do a project now ... on my MBP :p

Sometimes, I wish I had a 15" MBP lol
But I still feel that this MBP has a very good value to $$ ratio.

Awesome, I'm really digging what everyone is saying about it! :D

NickZac, I can live with those dislikes.. I'd rather have those problems than hating the machine itself.

What did you mean marks on your arms? Is it because the Unibody is more "jagged" than the previous models?

Overall the 13 inch MBP is hard not to like. I think the ultimate point which both makes us all here talk great about it and constantly is at the top of laptop reviews is the durability-reliability. I've never heard anyone say that they love their computer with frequent problems.

It is hard to describe the marks. When you open the computer up, the very outside portion of the aluminum case forms about a 90 degree angle and if pressure it put on it, it will make quite am indentation on your wrists. I get them all the time but I should also add that they have never hurt so its umm, 'cosmetic'.

OH and think about getting a SSD!!! IIRC the ones Apple uses are Samsung which aren't the fastest so it may be worth adding one after you buy the computer. It makes the computer SO MUCH faster.

13" is a good size for travel without the weight of 15" or 17".
Unlike some people I actually use the DVD drive to watch movies when I travel and don't want to pay hotel fees for cable movies.
Battery life is good, keyboard is excellent, and I love the trackpad.
OSx has zero viruses and doesn't need constant fooling around and updating anti-virus scanners.

Oh and I am sure there is plenty of info agreeing with what I am about to say but anyway, the refurbs are amazing! I know 3 people who purchased a 13 in MBP refurb and they look new and none have had any issues. I would have gotten one myself if I didnt need a computer right then at that very moment.

i was in a similar situation. i wanted the 13" but my dad convinced me that the 15" was better. when i went online to see the price the $$$ was amazing and when i told my dad it blew his mind !!!

i have decided to settle for the 13" because its worth it for now. besides microcenter has a promotion- $999 for BRAND NEW MBP 13" -- save $200... its worth it!
(and from the additional $500 you will save- consider upgrading RAM and HDD in the future (buy the SSD when OSX Lion is released?

Yeah, the 15 is just so tempting. The 13 inch is like a chocolate cake, the 15 is like a chocolate cake with caramel and butterscotch.

I checked out the website.. But its in-store pick up only. I live in Las Vegas and the closest is in California. I think it'd be cheaper for me to just get from Apple than drive all the way to Orange County and pick it up myself only to send back rebates and what not.

i love mine, with the exception for the airport card, i dont know about anyone else but almost every time i shut mine it disconnects. When i open and try to go on the internet, i have to wait for it to try and connect, and 80% of the time i have to do the diagnose problem thing or restart my router, ive tried plenty of different routers btw

hmm.. i used to have that issue with my current MBP. I just replaced the airport card, but i am sure Apple would do it for you if it keeps doing that or getting worse.
