I like the new color, screen, design, weight, speed, USB-C, probably touch bar, internals, new price of dongles. You just have to get the cables and dongles. Have them, and that's it. No more complaining. The problem presently, is that people haven't done this yet.

There's laughter about dongles and cables, like these are a new thing? No one likes that stuff. Have they ever? :D

note: All this subject to change

It's funny we had the same discussions when the rMacbook launched; appreciate it's targeted at a different market.

I was in the Apple store recently picked up the 13 inch but just assumed it was the retina MacBook; the thing is so slim and that screen!

Frankly I love everything about it. The lack of ports doesn't particularly bother me.

The problem with the whole argument that they're "pushing technology forward" is that they've done it very stupidly. In order to push USB-C forward they:
- removed magsafe
- put only TWO ports total on a premium laptop
- increased the price

Why is the increase in price a big deal? When a company pushes tech forward, it's not convenient in the first year or two. By upping the price AND pushing USB-C forward, it's a recipe for pissing people off.

Supply and demand. Demand has been high for supply quantities, so they upped the price. But if the demand falls... we'll see... and we all know that 720p front-facing facetime camera is there because they had a ton in their warehouse they had to get rid of.

What do you like most about the new MB 'Pros'?
1. That I was able to get a good deal on a maxed out 2015 15" MBP. (not from Apple)
2. The thought of seeing 'dongle events' instead of Apple Watch band and emoji events. Perhaps we'll see 'dongle collectors'? :)

The new MBP isn't for me until they offer more RAM as an option.
Assuming they get this sorted, what I do like about the new models:
1. TB3/higher speed ports. (although they should have shown real innovation and managed a magsafe TB3 port)
2. Improved screen using less power
3. Improved SSD read speeds
4. Touch ID
5. Bigger trackpad - assuming they later enable Pencil support + palm rejection works well.

Indifferent:
Touchbar - will likely wind up nice for some, useless for me with external KB, mouse, displays ..

Also worth noting is what is not on my list above.

Bought the base model non-touch bar 13" model at Best Buy for $1,399.00 two days ago knowing I could return within 2 weeks if dissatisfied. While the lack of ports - and especially the lack of an SD card slot - was a big disappointment, I was won over by the rich color of the display and louder, more refined speakers, lighter weight, smaller footprint and general agility of the new model. I can genuinely type faster and more effortlessly on the new, short travel keyboard. Trackpad behavior feels highly refined. Wifi connects reliably and is fast.

My 2014 was stolen about 6 months ago, which meant I had to rely on my old 8 year old MBP while anxiously awaiting the refresh to come along. So I guess for me, it'd have to be speed. Waiting on short videos to render in Screenium for an hour and a half or even more was just painful. The 2016 gets it done in 3 to 5 mins or so tops.

I bought a 2015 cause I needed a new laptop and it was in-stock. Ordered a 2016/2.7/512/460 and will show up at the end of the year and return the 2015. I am coming from a MBA so there are a lot of good things about both for me. Why I wanted to go with the 2016 instead, I like USB-C idea, smoking fast port, might not be convenient today but I plan on keeping this for 4 years or so and will be buying USB-c devices from now on. Love everything about the 2016, smaller size, touchpad, touch bar, I like the keyboard, I like the non-lit logo... I could go on...

I really don't understand all the hate for it, seems to be centred on price/value but I guess the people that have the most time to bitch probably can't afford it anyway.

Everything.

$200 cheaper would be nice, but I blame that on a complete lack of bonafide competitors on the Windows side. There's really nothing that can match this machine in terms of an overall package.

How do you mean? I'd agree in 2010... I'm not sure how that can be possibly true in 2016 outside of very small niches.

I mean exactly what I said... I don't find a single Windows laptop available right now to offer a better overall package than the new MBPs. Portability, power, build quality, display, battery life, connectivity, reliability, customer support, etc. There's nothing I'd replace my 15" MBP with. Pretty straightforward.

I like the new possibilities with charging and the fact that can potentially run power video and data through one cable with a compatible monitor. Makes it easier to setup and take with me again.

Also, screen, speed and portability are great. 15" MBP btw.

I'd agree with you on customer support...

Why are you even in this thread? Just to stir **** up? This is a thread about people's personal opinions on what they like about the new MBP. I posted mine.

I'm here because as a multi-decade Mac user, I'm interested how people try to explain away Apple's recent decisions. I'm not sure sweeping PR fluff that objectively is no longer true helps.

jjlannoo was just providing solutions. Why is everyone so butt hurt at people that aren't even defending Apple. They are actively trying to provide solutions to people and guys like you bring the conversation down with comments like that.

It's the "girlfriend response". You know when your girlfriend comes to you to complain about the bad things that happened to her. But she doesn't want you to come up with solutions for the problem. She just wants to complain and have you go "Oh wow, that totally sucks" or "That's such ********. You were right to get upset by that".

The best feature is the price because. Thanks to Apple's addition through subtraction, I'm getting less computer for a higher price and that has allowed me to keep my money in the bank as I'll not be buying one.

I'm pretty much liking everything. I am a minimalist so the lack of ports is perfect for me. I don't connect anything to my MacBook besides a USB-C hard drive and the power cable. Never been much of a thumb drive or SD user. I was one of the ones that enjoyed the lack of a CD-ROM drive. Also, side note, I'm cool with the lack of a headphone jack on my iPhone 7

This is a surprisingly catty response from a MacRumors staff member on a decidedly positively focused thread. I'm not saying the complaint is unwarranted red, but it seems like the negativity is misplaced here in particular, and I'm disappointed this is coming from a mod.
