So, what cycle do you prefer?

I also like the June launch because it seemed more happier and fun. Last year the iPhone launch kinda took away from the "new" iPods. But at the same time how can you act happy and excited in front of a lot of people when your close friend is on their death bed? Idk, we'll see how the launch goes this year before making a true decision.

I'm not sure why either, but I liked a June release too. Maybe it's because it's during summer and, other than working, I can sit on my butt and play with my new phone all day. October release is no bueno, cuz then I'll be back in school. Granted, I don't do much in school anyway :D hahaha.

It could also be because my contract is up in May

I did greatly prefer June. But I fear October makes better commercial sense.

This.

I much prefer June. My upgrade is already up now to tell the truth (and I have a 4 and we are not paying that much monthly so it's not like our upgrade got that accelerated) and on top of that, June is around my bday so easy to ask for bday money to get a new iPhone. Plus my 4 is starting to feel like it needs more ram or a faster processor or something (basically it's starting to act like it can't keep up with the new OS/apps).

But, it makes a lot more sense for marketing to release it in Sept/Oct. And seeing as we still don't see an iOS 6 beta for developers out, I have a feeling they are going to stick to the new schedule :(.

June cycle gives people more time to familarize themselves and enjoy the new Iphones. Most people take vacation during the summer or are off from school which makes it convenient.
The October release is uncomfortable for some as the holidays are near. Money is tighter.

In any event Apple is going to do what they want.
most likely release the next Iphone in a quarter where they need the revenue boost.

More important is that the next Iphone has dynamic features and larger screen.

I agree - June is always so calm and relaxed.

For me, I prefer the October cycle. I don't see it happening in June/July this year, but maybe next year, meaning they would have to wait till next year June/July to be back on track and most people who upgraded to a 4S would be eligible to upgrade by then.

Definitely June, as someone else stated earlier beginning of Summer, beginning of something new. I felt there's more excitement for it around then.

The June cycle. It just felt better. The half way point in a year to judge how technology is progressing rather then at the last quarter of the year.

I like June. It is nice to get a new gadget that is going to go with me on any vacations or day trips I might get to take during the summer. I don't mind October really, but if I could choose I would pick June.

I'll preface this by saying I really don't care which cycle they go with but the way I see it, unless iOS 6 is announced in the next 2 or so weeks it WILL be October because the 6the generation iPhone WILL be released with iOS 6

Just my 2c

I have 2 phones under my plan. I upgraded one with the 4S in Oct. 2011. I really would like to upgrade the 2nd line (dumb phone) asap, so I voted June.
Therefore, I can upgrade every year when each phone is up for upgrade having every reiteration of the iPhone.

Well, I would have preferred Apple fixed antennagate before they came out with the iPhone 4, so for quality assurance I'd have to say the October cycle.

I prefer the June cycle, but only because I like to stand in line for my phone. We will be moving to Boston here in September, so unless they end up releasing in the summer, I will probably just pre-order online and have it shipped to me. No waiting outside in the cold. :p

I don't know that there would have been a difference in fixing the antenna issue had they waited until October to release the iPhone 4. I am not even really all that sure that the 4S went through any more QA than did the 4. I suspect the October date had more to do with supply. Apple had a whole lot more units ready for the 4S launch than they did previous years.

I prefer a June cycle but I understand why Apple chose to change it to an October release date. The iPod touch is no longer a major product and Apple wants to spread out their major products.

Yeah like most people on here i prefer the june launch. I think it's the combination of new phone and sun that just puts you in a great mood.

June because it's much warmer waiting outside early in the morning. Now I usually have to freeze my butt off waiting in line in an October launch. :D

October works for me because I will have 4 lines eligible for upgrade in that month, but I have a line eligible for early upgrade now as well though. I'm thinking they release beta iOS 6 this summer and then we get software and hardware in the fall like last year and years to follow. Just my 2 cents.
