What do you think of Galaxy S II?

I'll be getting it when it's released here in the UK, if the iPhone 5 is a lot better then I'll probably sell it and pay the difference and get that then but at the moment the SGS2 is looking sweet! Couldn't really care about the plastic either, the screen is just <3.

Wow, slow applause for you. Trying to be "cool" and point out an error that wasn't even there.
And right there you went and did what you accused me of doing. Brilliant hypocrite.

Research & Development, is still where you expect the latest technology to be worked on. If you can't see that the Galaxy S ripped off the design of the 3GS and that Galaxy S2 has severe leanings toward the iPhone 4 design, well you best get to Specsavers.
So what if the design is similar. Obviously they thought it was a good design, so they used it. There's nothing saying they can't borrow design concepts from popular phones. If you read the OP's post you would have seen that this phone had the best benchmark of any android available by quite a margin, meaning that R&D at Samsung is doing just fine. The physical design of a phone is not as important as its performance. Design is not a technology, as you put it.

I just never liked samsung designs. None of their phones really appeal to me.

As for the benchmarks, I used a nexus one and then a droidx, both at the time really fast phones. To be honest, I never noticed any speed difference going from a a N1 to a DX. My point is those benchmarks really don't give a person the type of info that's useful in deciding which phone to buy

If it came with stock android it would be great. I couldnt stand Touchwiz on the first Galaxy S. Slowed down the Android experience drastically. Very buggy also.

I think I got spoiled because I started out with a Nexus One with a stock android install. I tried a Droid Incredible with Sense UI - wicked laggy, I went with the droid x, which had the moto blur. better then the sense ui, but buggy and moto was slow in fixing those bugs.

Hi guys, what do you think of Samsung's newest Android flagship Galaxy S II? Doesn't it look just fabuluous?

Looks like a iOS/WM7 Hybrid.

Doesn't impress me much compared to all the other Android phones that came out in the past year. It's just the lastest phone with great specs. I'm not hating though, it seems nice. I'm just saying, the market is being so saturated with the lastest/highest end devices to the point that people are starting not to care anymore.

Did somebody in a turtleneck say that mobile devices can't handle Flash? :D

Yet other clip of someone "CAREFULLY" viewing a video to make it look flawless & you still seen it slightly buggy. Why didn't he play with the Play/Pause button or the slide the time marker? Look how quickly he zoomed back to regular size when he zoomed in at 0:56. I've played with flash on too many devices, that's why this video looks so familiar.

that shape looked ok a few years ago when the 3gs came out, but now, it looks old out of the box. take a tip from the samsung captivate/Galaxy S for how to make a gorgeous phone that doesn't look like a crappy copy of 3 year old iphone.

Deny it all you can but still 90% of internet is Flash.

Welcome back FlexEngineer; nice new account there. BTW 90% is total BS. And no don't bother listing the 4 or 5 obscure websites that require flash. Most people go about their day without having to deal with Flash. I don't have it installed and run for months without having to look somewhere else for content.

Flash is not required because almost all sites have mobile versions now. But that's not what we are talking about. We are talking about 100% web experience. You are mixing things up. Just look at how much Flash content you run into while surfing on your computer daily.

And, I never said iOS should have Flash or anything. Frankly, I don't care. Just don't trash people when they say Android has Flash and handles it well. Because that is the truth.

Flash is way overrated.

Galaxy S II is just another nice-specs phone in the Android market. And like others, it isn't in the league of iPhone, which give users the best experience in using smartphone.

That's the problem, it doesn't handle it well. You don't get the 100% web experience.

Flash's biggest downfall isn't it's performance. The downfall lies in the battery consumption.

Yeah whatever. Enough of Flash already. I think Samsung did a great job with Galaxy S II. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is definitely a great OS. Page loading is lightning fast. And previews all say that this device's energy consumption is crazy low.

We'll see soon enough. Reviews will start coming in less than 10 days.

It looks like a nice phone. But TBH all mid to high end Androids essentially blur together. I don't see this phone doing anything that differentiates the experience and I expect it to be forgotten about in less then six months.

I owned the original Samsung Vibrant. Tmobiles version of the galaxy S. Solid phone. Super AMLOED great for viewing videos.

I am sure the galaxy 2 will be great.

However the main issue with Samsung has always been about software updates.

It took them 5 months to even get 2.2 to the european galaxy s phones. Took 7 months to get 2.2 updates to tmobiles vibrant. The Captivate was 8 months. Verizon's Fascinate....I am not even sure if they ever got the 2.2 update.

That why I would be very hesitate to drop money on another Samsung phone.

I'm currently an iPhone user but I think this might be the chance to go for Android. New "Tilt to zoom" is a groundbreaking innovation. No lag whatsoever. It's playing 720p Flash video and you can scroll/zoom smoothly as butter.

And finally, it kicked *** in Quadrant.

This is completely uncorrect and untrue. The S2 is ONLY thinner in some parts, not uniformally. It is 8.8mm at it's thinnest.

The iPhone 4 is 9.3mm thick throughout. It has a uniform design (which not a lot of phones offer).
