It should be simple. When 3G tech was introduced, it was named iPhone 3G. With LTE becoming widespread by early 2012 and with more LTE networks with more efficient chips, its obviously going to be an LTE iPhone. Thus, "iPhone LTE".

4G is pretty obvious. I would like them to just go with iPhone, like they do Macs. Same with the iPad. We have iOS 5 running on iPad 2 and iPhone 4s using an A5 chip. However, I think for the masses that the sequential bit drives sales. For now. It would be nice for them to be considered yearly models like cars.

Really? You people can't possibly think it will be called the 4 again especially if it's redesigned??

iPhone 5, with a revolutionary 4" screen that up until this point most thought was unnecessary, but that now is a game changer.

iphone 4S extreme

some features:

96gb storage
1gb RAM
12 megapixel camera
LTE
horrible battery
iOS 6
something better then siri......

All for the low price of $999.99

iPhone 1 was just iPhone right? makes sense
iPhone 2 was named iPhone 3G... which confused people
iPhone 3 was named iPhone 3GS.. ok not so bad
iPhone 4 was named iPhone 4.. makes sense
iPhone 5 was named iPhone 4s... err not very smart. I mean it's not a huge upgrade to the 4 so I guess you could still consider it there 4... but what are they going to call the next one?

iPhone 5 wouldn't make sense at ALL since it's the 6th iphone and iPhone 6 would make sense but people would be like "what happened to iphone 5?"

Going by your thread title, I can only imagine that the iPhone 6, if Apple ever names an iteration of the iPhone that, will be called the iPhone 6.

iPhone 4s2

Or maybe Hal

But probably iPhone 5

They are not skipping the 5 and going straight to 6 or 7.

I think it's already called the iPhone 4s.

1. iPhone
2. iPhone 2g
3. iPhone 3G
4. iPhone 3Gs
5. iPhone 4
6. iPhone 4s

Don't forget they updated the original iPhone shortly after the initial release. :)

So it's possible it will be called the iPhone 5.

Soooo, what is the difference between 1 and 2?
