i shop at gap a lot. and a lot of my tshirts come from threadless.

i occasionally get some decent stuff from target, sears, and kohls too.

A pair of shorts and a solid-color t-shirt, year round. Usually with socks and sandals, because they help reduce the effects of my hyperhidrosis. From Mervyns, Wal-Mart, and Target.

I shop a lot at vintage stores, get some nice deals. I'll also go to H&M, Nordstrom Rack, Loehmans, Macy's, Armani Exchange, French Connection, etc.

I find most of my favorite shirts are either Ben Sherman or Original Penguin. For jeans I prefer Citizens of Humanity or just the cheaper H&M jeans. I've got some Chip and Pepper, D&G, and others in jeans, but I don't know, they aren't much better than the H&M's in terms of quality. The Citizens are nice, I'd buy another pair of those, quality is pretty good and they're nice an long for their size.

For dress shirts you can't go wrong with Hugo Boss, Armani, BCGB, etc, lots of good brands out there in that area. For ties I like Christian Lacroix, good prices if you look hard, nice patterns, nice weight and feel. For pants, go pleat-less, no question, don't even think about pleats if you have a choice. Calvin Klein makes some pants that can be had for very little, they fit well and look good for about $40 or maybe less if I recall. Get a good pair of dress shoes as well, look around, you can get a fairly decent pair for under $75 if you know where to look. If you've got the money go Canali or Brioni all the way (but thats assuming you've got about the amount of money a used Civic costs to spend).

Do yourself a favor and invest in a nice belt. I think its goofy when someone's got nice pants on that are falling down because they couldn't afford a belt.

Jackets and such you can really find anywhere. I've got a sweet H&M wool double breasted coat that I love. Also have a nice Dolce and Gabbana sweater that I love as well. As well as a nice American Eagle sweater that was like $15 (not as nice as the D&G but far cheaper new).

Look for a good vintage store in your area, I've gotten so many shirts that must have been worn once and then sold to the store. I've seen Givenchy, D&G, Armani Collezioni, Yves St. Laurent, etc, all at American Eagle prices at my local vintage shop. Depending on where you are it might be hard to find one this good, but its worth a look.

If you're into designer stuff BlueFly is a good place to start.

I don't shop at walmart! Go local and organic if possible. I buy my clothes in organic cotton and hemp. My food comes from a non-profit food co-op, and it's non GMO, mostly organic and locally produced. That's just the green me though. :D

thats awesome. i support many a local business too. you just feel good about it when you leave. im doing the best i can to become as green as possible. its hard!

I tend to buy all my clothes when abroad. It means you're less likely to run into people wearing the same thing whilst you're at home :)

At either ends of the scale currently are Devred and Armand Thiery, both French chains.

I usually grab whatever article of clothing catches my eye - I don't consider myself "brand-loyal" to a particular store or manufacturer. That said, some things I bought recently:

Volcom Ozzie Hoodie. Love this.

Zoo York wheat paste. Mmm. Paste. Nom nom nom...

Hurley hat.

I do a lot of shopping online, because I can (always!) find my size, and the selection out there blows the mall out of the water.
But I've been known to spend a few bucks at the local "Save-a-lot store" too.
Walk in for toothpaste & candles, walk out with a handful of summer T's, etc.
"all this for 8 bucks?!" Win.

I'm 32 closing in on 33.

I shop mainly at The Buckle for jeans, Lucky Brand is all I wear.

And Dillard's, Gap, Banana Republic, and even Target for everything else. Money wise I can shop about anywhere I want but over the years I've got it down to this small group of stores I go to regularly.

I wear clothes that I get from the store ;)

Department stores, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc...

I wear 'almost old fart du jour'.

I have been known to delve into Gap, Fenchurch, Mecca, Beautiful Decay, Zoo York and Uniqlo for basic casuals. Otherwise it's Armani, Boss, Smith, Boateng, Jaeger.

Not a big one for clothes to be honest - the only real reason I buy 'proper' designer gear for much of the stuff I wear is because I want it to fit properly and not fall apart after one trip in the dry cleaning. On me it all looks like Oxfam anyway.

If I want something proper, I don't shop in Australia because they don't know what "nice" is, and even when you find something nice, it's very overpriced. In the age of the internet, it's easy to check prices for a product in other countries.

When I want casual wear, I don't shop in bland old North America, although I don't like things that really clash and make me look like an eyesore.

I've shopped at American Apparel for (non-cotton) t-shirts, because I really don't like cotton shirts anymore.

The rest of it is based on instinct. If I like it, and it's not very expensive, I may buy it. I don't have a favourite store to shop in.

like most people in there 20s...
abercrombie, american eagle, hollister, some ruehl...a lot of my dress shirts are from banana republic jeans i really like lucky brand...
I'm surprised no one mentioned Ed hardy

American Apparel, almost exclusively. I get my jean from Urban Outfitters (they are either Levis or BDG). But all of my shirts are American Apparel. They are made in the US and are great fitting.

I save myself the trouble by going to Oxfam in the first place, at least for shirts. Other than that it's Gap, Next or M&S for jeans and (plain) T-shirts. Never been to a designer shop in my life, and the last time I went to a dry cleaner was several years ago.

Yeah, their shirts really do fit better, as long as you're medium or slim build. They're not really into the big shirts, although their plain cotton t-shirts are made a bit bigger.

As someone who is on the smaller side of things, I do love their poly-cotton and . AA hasn't been in Australia for very long (less than a year), and I used to buy their shirts from a company that give 30% of the profit to certain organizations involved in certain environmental and animal projects. They would even donate to, and raise awareness, for the Jane Goodall institute.

However, AA did recently tell this shop that in 1 week, they would stop supplying shirts to them....all without a reason given. That killed the store nearly instantly, and now the store is having a fire sale of all their stuff. Fantastic way to treat your customers, AA. May not shop from them for awhile. The guy who started AA is just a creepy little loser who masturbates and gets "bj"s by employees during interviews, so I'm not really surprised.

I wear my Brooks Brothers suit and my H&M suit. Brooks Brothers no iron shirts.

On the weekends, diesel/joes jeans, hoodies and solid color ts.

No I've heard that rumor too. That his ads started because he would take employees home, have sex with them, and photograph them in AA clothes.

oh wow. yeah i can see that...

so i guess he got fired and now works at "abercrombie" does the same thing based on their pictures now. have you seen the current one in their store front?

can we say photoshopped. ( his 'mister' is missing)

Abercrombie has been doing that for years. Their catalog got people kind riled up maybe 5 years ago because it showed half naked kids in Abercrombie.
