What does an ipad web page look like

When viewing a web page on an ipad, is it the same as on a laptop or desktop or is it a mobile version of the sight? Do the pages look the same on both desktop and ipad. Secondly, can I log onto sites like cnn and watch their videos?

Some sites redirect to the mobile version, but most display the desktop sites.

The vast majority of sites load/look the same as a laptop/destop would.

CNN videos play fine (at least those linked to from the front page - I don't if there's a difference for something subscribed to).
