It's sure going to look nice on an ipad3, on the little tiny 3.5" iphone, who shives a git

----------

I saw stuff like this once....but I was in the hospital on a pain pump with really potent meds in it.

So you can relate to how the OP is feeling rt now ;)

Okay. This is something everybody can do.

Go to your home screen stare at a point on the screen. App icons work best.

Tilt the phone back and forth in a circular motion and you'll see this glisten.

Are you seeing what I'm seeing?

It looks like digital glitter. Sometimes you'll use the phone and it just happens. You just see it.

Oh I think I just saw it.

Yeah I see it.

Wtf?

dude, i can totally see it here!!!! omg its AWESOME, i always knew retina wasn't just a ******** marketing name, the display is fabulous dude, thank you so much for sharing your findings, its almost like the icons are popping off the screen into your eyes!! its awesome!

One of Apples strengths is their clever relabeling of existing technologies to make them sound catchy, superior, and as though Apple invented or created them.

An example is Apple's "Retina" label for a regular decades old technology officially known as an "IPS Display". Our professional workstation laptops at work have had hi-res anti-glare IPS displays for years. A premium display, the consumer grade laptops like Dell, HP, Toshiba & others don't feature them due to their prohibitive costs.

Similiarly Apples "Airport" is nothing more than garden variety wifi, as everyone knows except one segment of Apples target market which is the beginners.

So yes, these IPS displays have always been impressive, especially on a 15" laptop.

You don't see it? I'm sorry. But as you interact with the iPhone more, you will.
I love tilting the phone and looking at the screen from many different angles. It's so pleasing to the eye.
Apple's site says "Images in games, movies, and photos pop off the screen."
They do. It's like 3D without being 3D. It's almost like I can feel the clipboard above the notes app.
t's almost like they packed such a high resolution into a tiny screen, the images upon it literally glisten.

Some of us have lives and no time to sit and tilt the screen for no reason other than to be "amazed". Really, become a priest.

I suspect there's a reason you have been a member of the board for 16 days yet have 326 posts.... I won't share it but I have a pretty good idea.... did I mention you should become a priest?

What can I say? I like Apple products.

For months and months I was wondering, What is Retina? It didn't come to me right away.

The iPhone is just beautiful and if you look at it long enough you begin to notice just how beautiful it is.

To me retina is like a double rainbow...... It's so beautiful it makes me cry.

Seriously tho, if you see something "below" the screen, it's likely the capacitive matrix under the touch screen.

Is it only me or when you click your into your messages app sometimes, the text messages move to the side? and look blurry for a quick sec. It's pretty weird but cool at the same time. Just saying.

Digital is bad, you want it to NOT look digital. High pixels and high contrast (in each base color) contribute to quality digital displays and the "3D" look. That's on any screen.

Loved some of the replies guys !

Personally i prefer not to analyse this type of stuff, but just enjoy its beauty.

Ive been using cellphones for over 23 years and it still amazes me what the manufacturers keep doing with them !

Happy days.

Its interesting to know how its all done tho.

Idk wtf OP is talking about, but I do notice that the viewing angles are insane. You can see the screen in clear perfect colors from every angle.. unlike the screen on my MBP.

The Retina display..

I don't really understand what the concept of a retina screen is. Can you see it?

After looking at my 4S today, I think I saw the "Retina".

And now...I think I know what it is.

I think you mean the rapture, don't you?
