I've always wondered what it means, I've seen it in all of my iPhones.
it means u have a crappy internet connection.
Yeah, basically no signal, at all.
GPRS is a fall-back network that is used when no Edge/3g network is available. It's basically a slower 2g network. Here's an article that has some info on the different network connections on the iPhone(E/3g/O)
Data network, rather. Albeit a very slow, dated one.
Yep, GPRS for gsm iPhones and 1X for CDMA phones
It means, Offline.
LOL! I don't talk on the phone, so data connection is the only thing I pay attention to.
It stands for:
"O" no, my internet sucks.
Does it not mean you are roaming?
This article explains the possibilities for an iPhone connected to a GSM/UMTS network.
"O, I'm terribly sorry it appears the Internet is not operating sufficiently." "Would you like a cup of Tea whilst you wait?"
The "O" basically means that you have slow ass data speeds.
Remember when GPRS was fast compared to WAP!
I see this in certain parts of town. Usually I have excellent coverage on Verizon, however driving into the outskirts, the 3G logo disappears, and the "o" logo appears, despite me having 4 or 5 bars.
"o" is gprs...remember CSD? LOL...
If you lived anywhere in Britain apart from a major city youd see the o most of the time.
Yup! I wish I could get 3G whilst at work, would help the quiet moments pass a bit quicker & I could use tune in radio! Infact I'd be happy with an edge connection at work, anything is better than that little 'o'...
Basically means you are gonna be getting really slow data speeds.
It means your currently on 1x
