What does the 'O' next to the carrier mean?

    I've always wondered what it means, I've seen it in all of my iPhones.

    LOL! I don't talk on the phone, so data connection is the only thing I pay attention to.

    The "O" basically means that you have slow ass data speeds.

    I see this in certain parts of town. Usually I have excellent coverage on Verizon, however driving into the outskirts, the 3G logo disappears, and the "o" logo appears, despite me having 4 or 5 bars.

    If you lived anywhere in Britain apart from a major city you’d see the ‘o’ most of the time.

    Yup! I wish I could get 3G whilst at work, would help the quiet moments pass a bit quicker & I could use tune in radio! Infact I'd be happy with an edge connection at work, anything is better than that little 'o'...
