I still BADLY miss a FM radio. 2 reasons, I get 3G signal dropout on the train to work so can't listen smoothly, and secondly the football commentary on my local stations only have the license to broadcast over FM/AM so it's just junk on radio apps.

So yes people do still use FM radio and a radio app isn't a good enough replacement

I would use the radio here too. Not everyone has gigabyte data plans with their iPhones - 400MB here, and 80% or more of that is used with normal use, leaving only a few hours worth of streaming data available.

What's the reasoning behind AM radio?

No mobile device has it.....

FM radio has music but AM radio has sports talk !!!

Alas there is more and more sport talk on the FM band nowdays, at least in Australia. If I wanted to hear has-beens talking garbage about the past, rubbishing the current sports stars or coaches or selectors then I'd listen to the Triple M Grill team.

Theres a reason I switched to Nova in the morning, and the Grill team is it :(
