It is also the computer Apple sells that can take the most RAM. I don't "need" it, but I have 14GB in my Mac Pro (2008). When I bought it, I don't think the iMacs could take more than 4GB.
The most recent iMacs support up to 16GB, but will cost a small fortune to upgrade.

It's been my main computer in various iterations for years.
Way worth it for me!
My bread and butter.... many dollars of income.
I'm not going elsewhere.
