What FaceID naysayers don't understand

If I have time later today, I'll video what I'm talking about.

There is literally zero animation other than the lock screen sliding up out of the way. No spinning anything, no padlock, nothing.

The screenshot I posted is of the animation I see after the swipe up, if I manage to get the swipe in before FaceID. You have to be really fast to catch it. Most people will probably already have it unlocked by the time they swipe.

I also have “raise to wake” turned off, so the FaceID doesn’t start until I actually turn the screen on myself. That may be the difference here.

Face time has been working 90% of the time for me.... There are times i guess when my face is too far away from the phone....When it works its great cause I will swipe up before it even unlock and within a split second im on the home screen......Its pretty fast cause there are times it just looks like im just swiping up to unlock and forget that FACE ID is enable.

Interesting. Have you tried re-doing your Face ID registration?

Also, I imagine that if you register your face under less-than-ideal conditions (e.g. bright outdoor light) you may introduce noise into the "calibration". Sure, Face ID needs to work under those conditions, but the calibration probably should be done under the best possible conditions, and it may take a few tries to get it optimized.

Yeah, no improvement. It could be where I am or my face or who knows. I'm just hoping the next round has a gen 2 camera array that will fix it. Definitely not irritated to the point of returning the phone though, I do like it a lot more than the 7+ overall.
