Just curious what people would like to see.

I would love to see a blood pressure monitor, perhaps a band that constricts the wrist and provides a readout right on the Watch screen.

It’s kind of pointless to even project for the ‘Series 7’, I’d just focus on the Apple Watch Series 6.

Plus, there already is a thread on this topic.

Honestly, there's not that much I feel is missing right now. I know a lot of people want more health sensors, but those don't interest me much. Better battery life would be cool, but I always charge it overnight, so it wouldn't affect my use much unless we're talking multi-day battery life where you can take a weekend trip and not have to take a charger. Even the S4/S5 have some lag in launching certain apps and animations, so better performance would be nice, but the S4/S5 are hardly slow, so that's pretty minor. The biggest things I want are software-driven, like more independence from the phone and third party watch faces.

You're right about the software-driven improvements. I always found it awkward that when you activate the Apple Watch with a carrier, which actually comes with its own number, you can't make calls directly to the watch with said number. I'm hoping that with more independence from the phone, you'll be able to receive calls both from the number that is attached to the phone, as well as the number that it came with from the carrier.

My mistake, I didn't notice that one. Perhaps I should have searched for this topic prior to posting a new thread.

Not sure if they could just make this change in watchOS, but I’d like to see third party fitness apps have the ability to use the AOD.

Additional battery life would be next.

The supposed mental health features would be the last thing. I’m not really sure that they need spO2 sensors for this. It seems like this could just be software.

That would be a watchOS feature, not a capability of the hardware.
The title of the thread didn’t specifically mention hardware it was talking about features & capabilities....Apple are known for bringing in additional attributes when a new version of a product comes out, partly to get people to upgrade from older tech. So I stick by my original answer as it is relevant to the thread title.

Would like to see:
  • Improvements in battery life OR the speed in which it charges
  • Improved accuracy of motion detection (so that you get the credit for standing up without fail!)
  • New design, which is still instantly recognisable
  • More sensors that give me useful information about my health... not talking about sensors for sensors sake!

Yes, but customization is almost guaranteed to be a watchOS feature that’s not isolated to just a Series 6 or Series 7 watch. (The thread title mentioned Series 6/7 features specifically.) More customization/third-party watch faces would definitely also be available for at least the Series 4 and Series 5, but probably also the Series 3.

As to the bolded part, are you wanting to silently brag to strangers that you are wearing an Apple Watch?

I'll chime in here by echoing the others who said "battery life."
If the rumors are true about the battery in the series 6, it will be a marginal update that may provide an extra hour or two, depending on how you are using your complications, exercise and other variables. If one engages hand washing and pulse ox, that may negate improvement in battery life, as those features would be always running in the background.

Let’s hope that they have something fancy in regards to better power management/reduced power draw up their sleeves. Or it will have to be fast charging, as some have mentioned.
I can’t see how they would promote sleep tracking (near 24h wearing of the watch) with current power/battery times. I’m curious!

Not really. I think the current design looks very stylish and very recognisable as an Apple product. I would love for them to stay close to this design, while improving the look. Thank goodness I am not a designer! lol

I don't think there's enough incentive to bump the battery. Unfortunately, too many people buy it as is and too many of those want more watch faces rather than longer battery life.

Independence from the iPhone so I can ditch the iPhone and link it with my macMini and/or iPad.

That’s likely coming, but I’d say we’re a long ways out. What you probably wind up seeing is the AR glasses and Apple Watch become more of a product together with the iPhone being it’s own entity. But at This point, I said its Apples ‘end goal’ to have the watch be a soul device that’s not reliant on the iPhone.

Basically, I want a better battery life.
Having to charge a watch each day, is not very user friendly. I'd expect at least 48h of battery life.

While it's nice to see new features being added to new products, it simply comes down to that. Who cares for new faces, new health features, noise detection etc. if it doesn't even make the day? Faster charging won't change this for me.

A better motion detection - e.g. when I take a walk with the baby (stroggler), the Watch doesn't detect the movement properly - would come in handy as well.

Top product, but the battery should significantly improve, also compared to its competitors on the market.
