I was wondering the same thing. I also have the the same config on the way and would actually to have a game or two on the MBPR.

So, maybe back on topic?

Definitely get a copy of Windows 7 and install it using bootcamp.

There will be a few games for Mac but if you love games then using Windows 7 under bootcamp you can play everything.

Steam is also a great idea and works on both OSX and Windows 7.

If you want to buy games that work for OSX (Mac) you absolutely have to buy:

Half Life 2 (plus Episode 1 and 2 add on packs)
Portal and Portal 2

The above games can all be had for practically nothing as a bundle now on steam and they are 2 of the finest game series ever made.

If you look at his username, I'm guessing thats his date of birth. Just a guess though.

Anyway, if you look here (Steam) you'll see a lot of the games available Mac.

Oh my God, who puts their birthdate in their user name??? Why not just skip all pretense and use your social security number, and put "I love identity theft!" in your signature?

"The combination is . . . one . . . two . . . three . . . four . . . five!"
"What?! 12345? That sounds like something an idiot uses on their luggage!"

If you're looking for games to utilise the high-end software you've got, most of these games aren't for you. The valve games can run easily on even a macbook air.

That being said, I can think of some games that even your mac won't be able to handle like Diablo III (native res.)

If you're looking for just *fun* games, then there are a few on the mac app store. Braid is one of my personal favourites and it's only 3.99.

Yeah, sure, whatever, I wasn't really the one making a reference to your age. I just made an observation. And it's crazy how your parents pay for food, your house, electricity, car, TV, Internet and so forth isn't it?

jealousy is a stinky cologne.

Let the kid be. If he bought a rMBP by himself at 17, even if his parents paid for everything else, he's still ahead of the game.

indeed, not to mention that its just a moronic line of thinking, hey my parents bought me a pc! I must be such an entitled bastard!

Glad he purchased on his own, terrified to think that people are bringing this up when the OP is asking for games that work on OSX.

I would go for Europa Universalis 3, and I would install windows so that you can game whatever the hell you want. its what I do actually. A lot of ports are just terrible, thus windows is a good alternative.
Also try world in conflict, one of the best strategy games out there.

what kid? also, i may not be in the top 1% , but i do well for my self. When i do have kids, im letting them know they have to get scholarships, just like my parents told me.

we're living in an era of super low taxes, so none of us should be complaining about anything.

What kid? My kid. You do realize that I am obliged to pay local property taxes to maintain the corrupt local school system despite the fact that my kid doesn't even go there, right?

Super low taxes? Are you kidding? My effective tax rate is 53%. Yet this country doesn't do half the things a Scandinavian country would do for you in return for such exorbitant taxation.

Mods, please ground this kid for a week or 2. He has posting high levels of immature threads and answers in this forum. I can tell your at least 10 from your grammar.

Back on topic, Civilization V is available for OS X, and it's retina-ready. I picked it up on Steam.

Otherwise, besides Diablo 3 and the Valve games, bootcamp is where you'll get your best game options. Even games like Company of Heroes, which is available for Mac, are better on Windows (more options on Windows, like Skirmish mode).

Keep an eye on a game called Drox Operative, which is out soon for Mac (in beta now...but it's buggy on OS X).

look up historical rates and count your self lucky
