Yes, but that Asus Zen Book costs $1,800, which makes it a pretty different product than a $899 Macbook Air.

Okay, since I just bought the 11" Macbook Air today I guess I'm hoping I wasn't foolish for not waiting until October.

Sadly, my old Macbook 2009 couldn't wait until October before crapping out on me, so we shall see...

actually that's not really true. fanless devices with a new Core M (broadwell) CPU are coming out at the end of october. sounds like the perfect timing for the event. high resolution displays are also supported.

here's one example - a zenbook. one of MBAs biggest competitors:

i would wait, just to be sure. its only a month.

the more powerful CPUs will come in spring, thats true. but apple might be using them for the macbook pro line only. and they won't be fanless.

and wouldnt it be weird to have the new osx released without any new hardware?

What the **** did I say?
The supply chain sources also add that the 12-inch MacBook Air will come with a touch-enabled Retina display.

It might be wrong.... but WTF did I say!?! if it turns out to be true, then you all are suckers

oh yea...thats the case

you have not said anything someone has not said before.

I think the debate pretty much died down when Steve Jobs himself denied it. I´ve been following the Macbook rumors and touch-functionality has not been a part of the discussion.

The primary discussion has been about processors, screen resolution and size of the machine.

It is the rumours going back a year or so, that talked about a brand new redesigned Macbook that got me thinking. It is time for Apple to break the pattern of the expected format and try to reinvent the laptop. Because its been standing still since 2008 now.
