Not me it didn't. I was on the final payment screen and the total showed 0 tax. I suppose it depends where you are buying from. If you happen to be in a state where they have stores then they probably will charge you tax.

Also since I'm in New Jersey I think B&H would charge me tax but I will check.
B&H only charges in New York.

How do you get apple care for 1/2 off? Is it a promo or only when you buy a new computer with B&H?
You have to buy the computer from B&H. However it's fairly easy to find AppleCare for discounted prices. The best I've seen iMac AppleCare is from Amazon for about $123, another vender that discounts it is LA Computer Company. Currently Amazon doesn't charge tax in CA (this will change 9/2012) and LA Computer Company has to charge tax in CA but I have no idea what their arrangement is with other states.

Well, I ordered the iMac but I'm still not sure I did the right thing. That damn 17" MacBook Pro is calling out to me 😱

nope, just unscrew the small flap underneath the screen and slot the memory in. There are 4 slots, 2 are used by apples 2GB chips, I added another 2 x 4GB to make 12GB total...suits for most uses!

And it takes maybe 5 minutes to do. I just tripled my memory for just over $40--- how can Apple charge $400? Went from the base 4GB RAM to 12. A nice cheap and fast upgrade.

You'd think Apple would take advantage of how cheap RAM is and make their systems look even better. Imagine having 8-12 GB of RAM standard in all iMacs. Then do the expensive upgrades for 16, 24, 32.
