Just something I thought should be brought up. Since the camera array is so sensitive and the components have had a low production volume due to that sensitivity, what happens when you drop the phone and one of those sensor array components breaks?

Guys, it's a bit of a rhetorical question. I understand you can use a passcode. I'm trying to bring something to light which I think a lot of people might be overlooking.

but it is the same as if you break the screen or crack the back. You get it fixed.

Unless you have Apple Care +

true. i decided against apple care. I am doing the carrier insurance since they cover lost or stolen....

What might the oversight be? Pass code seems like a reasonable answer to the question you asked. I'm not trying to be a troll but I really don't see what you're fishing for here.

I think they’re fishing for justification within themselves for buying an iPhone 8 while wishing they’d waited for an iPhone X.
And that might be true. Personally, I love having the home button so I got the 8. There's something about FaceID that makes me a little nervous. Not sure why exactly though

It’s all each to their own. I’m just over reading all these doomsday posts and “what-ifs.” Or should I say,
“rhetorical questions.”

Something else to consider before shelling out the big bucks for the X...

If it gets run over by a steam roller, you can’t even enter the passcode!

Also, if you lose the phone, so long OLED screen!

All this technology has risks!

I think you rhetorically overlooked the fact that the passcode is the alternative. The tone of your post presents the idea that one would be locked out of the phone without facial recognition. If that wasn't the case, what exactly are you bringing to light? If a component breaks, you either deal with it or get it fixed.

Is 'passcode' always on or is it something you have to enable in settings?? because if only FaceID is enabled and the sensors fail due to the phone taking a knock or a slight drop, you wont be able to get in to your phone unless you did a factory reset.

For me face scanning is much much less freaky and weird than fingerprints.

Scanning my face is how my friends and family recognise me.
Fingerprints is how police and mi5 identify you.

Haha, well played. Never cheated or broken the law because I'm lame like that... Just something about it gives me the creeper vibe.

Do you get the same feeling when being video taped pretty much any public place you go? Do you get the same vibe when you get your picture taken for your DL? I'm assuming that your picture on your MR Forum profile pic... you're cool with that and everybody looking at it when you post.

Your personal likeness is everywhere, so what's nagging you about being able to get into your phone with your face?

I'm not meaning this as an attack post (just to clarify up front). They're legitimate questions to see what scares people about FaceID.
