Is 'passcode' always on or is it something you have to enable in settings?? because if only FaceID is enabled and the sensors fail due to the phone taking a knock or a slight drop, you wont be able to get in to your phone unless you did a factory reset.
If faceid is on then your passcode will be on. Just like you have to have a passcode with touchid, and you can’t just have the fingerprint as the only way to unlock the phone.

It’s always on as a backup, just as it is for TouchID. This was seen in the keynote.

Do you get the same feeling when being video taped pretty much any public place you go? Do you get the same vibe when you get your picture taken for your DL? I'm assuming that your picture on your MR Forum profile pic... you're cool with that and everybody looking at it when you post.

Your personal likeness is everywhere, so what's nagging you about being able to get into your phone with your face?

I'm not meaning this as an attack post (just to clarify up front). They're legitimate questions to see what scares people about FaceID.
Maybe it's because I can control that one picture... and I'm not a total hermit but I do not particularly enjoy going out. I mean I have to eat and work and that nonsense but yeah. I get what you're saying but I think it's the further implications... like maybe it watching my eyes for marketing ads or whatever. I don't know. Just a bit much for me.

So ur not that into tech is what you’re saying. Hey we like what we like.. and that is your right

For me face scanning is much much less freaky and weird than fingerprints.

Scanning my face is how my friends and family recognise me.
Fingerprints is how police and mi5 identify you.

They had our data and fingerprints now our faces.

I don't think anyone was overlooking it. No one was talking about it because it wasn't a problem.

This. He’s fishing for a problem that doesn’t exist. Same with any model phone with Touch ID that doesn’t work. Enter the passcode until fixed.

Guys, it's a bit of a rhetorical question. I understand you can use a passcode. I'm trying to bring something to light which I think a lot of people might be overlooking.

Hope that it was in a case and take it to the Apple Store and act dumb.

We not overlooking it. You drop your phone, you pay the price to fix it. How is that anything new about phones?

They who? What part of it resides only in the secure enclave of your iPhone don’t you understand. It never leaves that part of the chip. Not sent to iCloud, not sent to Apple, stays on your iPhone till you erase it by resetting.

Do you actually believe that ??????

Don't worry OP. The iPhone XI will be putting Touch ID back into the mix. It won't work if your iPhone is in a case though as you'll need to be able to touch the Apple logo on the back of the phone. About time that Apple logo is given some utility. 😛
