All headphones do this but most headphones the ear cups aren’t (easily) removable so nobody notices and they don’t worry about it because it’s not an issue, even though you get tricked by click bait articles that says it is.
If they do I’ve never noticed them and also have never had any other headphones die on me the way several AirPod maxes have

A bit of a rip-off at this price. Anemic and unchanged battery, heavy weight, headband that probably shows its age (no pun intended), condensation... in short.

I ordered one but returned it and grabbed an edifier stax spirit s3 for a fraction of the price. I know it's a different animal but the sound just doesn't compete... for 150 bucks vs 600 mind ya

I was hoping for at least an overall weight loss, and an actual off button would have been exciting (which is kinda sad), and a more protective case I thought would have been a no-brainer.... but no. Ahh well, off to my B&W PX8 S2's I go...

I ordered mine day one and I always liked them and I still like the case (it carries easy). It’s just hard to recommend them because the standard AirPods Pro are so close and so perfectly portable. That almost does make the AirPods Max a desk product, but I do understand wanting something collapsible.

I’m definitely in the minority, but all I want is a set of AirPods that I can change the battery on. It’s not easy with these apparently, but it’s possible. Hopefully even easier with the new model.

Been waiting for an update so this will have to do I guess..

I just don’t want to buy another set of AirPod pros that destined for the bin when the battery dies

I own tons of Apple products and have been deeply embedded in the eco-system for 20 years and was really hoping the v2 of these would be improved and if so, I was definitely going to buy one. That’s a hard pass now.

Two friends have had the mesh collapse inside of a year and then they become so uncomfortable they have never worn them again. And they are not even remotely portable or protected with that poor case design, so that also makes it a big no for me as I travel approximately 150-170 days a year.

I’m sure they sound great, but I already have an incredible studio over the ears for my desk, and I have my Bose and AirPod Pros for travel and daily movement.

A few changes for the better and I would have instantly bought these. Oh well, on to other things!

I've found the AirPods Max to do well enough in their core purpose to pretty much ignore downsides. They're super comfortable for me, easy to use all day, sound great, and have sufficient ANC. Sure, I wouldn't mind a way to power them off fully. The bra case is goofy (at least it's a pretty bra). I'm glad they retained the materials, fit and finish, and colors. I adore the purple color. The only true shame is that if they have the same shell that they won't sell an internals upgrade kit.

Ordered the first generation on day one. No easy way to travel with it so it is in a drawer somewhere.

Continue to use the Bose top model as its has great sound and noise cancellation and makes into a travel friendly package.
Same story here. I tried it several times, but really got annoyed with the space it takes up to bring AirPods Max with you on a plane.

I use Sony headphones for my trips for some years now. Also sounds great and fine noise cancelling as well. And, obviously, fold into a much smaller and more convenient case.

AirPods Max are just to listen to music at home.

The mesh headband is the weakpoint, my first gen set has been great apart from the mesh which has gone floppy. I have a rubber insert that makes them comfortable again but its stupid to stick with that design.

So don’t! There are plenty of better options out there.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to want a product with easily replaceable batteries. I’ve read user stories of these things starting to die after just a couple of years and how Apple can’t even replace the battery themselves, forcing them to resort to refurbs. Crazy that they haven’t fixed all the issues with this design if you ask me.

the price .. it hasn't changed. still scandalous.
and the broken design too it's still there:
- no power button
- ridiculous case
- heavy
- not working without power even when using jack cable
- condensation build up
- apple not learning lessons, not noticing the clues even if it's blinking red with siren going off in front of their faces.

typical apple.
they could also increase the cringe while they are at it and release a new magic mouse as well, one that sill have unpractical, half working wheel and middle mouse button and that still need to be put belly up to charge. that could be a way for them to express how they actualy feel regarding their user base and the feedback given to them.

For as little as Apple seems to care about the AirPods Max, I’m surprised they updated them vs just letting the prior model “remain a product in our lineup”.
