The powerbook G4, which became the macbook pro once apple switched to intel processor, kept the same exterior case design from 2001 all the way through 2008, if my math is correct, 2008-2001=7, so yes, that particular design stayed with apple for 7 years.

Hence, it is highly doubtful apple will just ditch the current design that isn't even 3 years old yet.

First off, i'm not a 10 year old so I dont need to be treated like one with your math example.

You said "the previous design." The previous design was not in the first intel MBP so I was having trouble figuring out what you were talking about.

If you are talking about when the PB G4 became the MBP, then yes your math is right.

What if...?

Everything we've read about the 13" MBP is completely true, integrated graphics and everything.....

And it totally kicks current 13" MBP's ass in benchmarks?

I know, is your mind blown?

Yes, because Intel 3000HD definitely kicks the 320m ass in benchmarks.

I'll buy anyway. The only thing that kept me from buying it in December when I first decided I needed one fairly soon was that I didn't want to pay a premium for tech that was so old.

I don't care about lion (unless it offers performance increase over snow leopard), nor do I care about how it looks, I just want a machine with modern hardware that will do what I need it to do. Which the 2010s would have done just fine, but again, I would feel like I was overpaying even more.

I'll likely buy one in a few weeks. A 17", not the 13".

Yeah I read that. It's also possible that Apple worked with Intel to make the IGP perform better.

BTW, this is me just trying to be positive.

I hope so, and I hope you are right and I am wrong. lol... I want to play starcraft 2 in medium high settings :(

How could have any trouble figuring it out when he even posted (2001-2008) in his original post. It was VERY clear what he was talking about. Not trying to pick on you, but it seems like you are trolling him. OH wait...

I'm going to buy it regardless because I need a new laptop. So will millions of other people. Ninety percent of the population cannot read these threads and comprehend what you nerds talk about with your "Light-Saber-Peak-Thundercat" and other doongaggles. Laptops for the common man! Bring back 16-bit! :)

It's amazing how a few leaks come out and MR blows up with disdain!

First, these are just leaks! Even if they pan out, we are talking about the LOW end 13" MBP. The difference between the current 13" and 17" line up is significant. I'm sure we will see similar differences this year.

Second, has anyone really had a BAD experience with their Macs? While Apple can't please everyone, they build awesome machines. I doubt this year's lineup will be any different. I promise, you'll be able to do the exact same stuff you do now on these newer computers. A few weeks ago, everyone was praying for SB to come to the 13" Now it isn't good enough.

Third, if you want technology to evolve, manufacturers have to take risks. Thunderbolt/Thunderchicken (whatever), is a bold step in the right direction. I'm sure a band of smart engineers at Apple have thought through this process and have a game plan to move forward with technology. If this year's model isn't for you, stick with what you got.

Fourth, the graphic card issue. Apple does not compete to win any type of gaming machine award. I'm sure whatever Apple introduces will be sufficient for the majority of Mac owners. If a gaming machine is what you really need, then I'm sure Apple will gladly watch you leave for a PC.

Finally, Apple has a cult following because of it's seamless integration of software and hardware. They have never been out to take over the computer world by offering cheap devices. Many on here have talked about getting a PC to "hold them over" until a better Mac refresh occurs. Seriously, Apple could care less. They sell the BMW of computers, not station wagons. If you have to go cheap to get by, then you are not in Apple's target market.

I'm sure I'll get flamed, but come on, wait until Apple announces their new lineup before going ballistic over a few leaked specs.

What if...?

All of the leaks are controlled, and complete BS?

That's what I'm hoping for.

I'm buying

I'll be buying one regardless. Probably in the minority, but I like the unibody design and hope it doesn't change. What I would like however, is to have SSD at a cheaper price, to help create quicker boot up times - like the MBA.

I still need to decide 17" versus 15" though.

1. Yes, they are but IF rumors are true, 13 inch cant get over the 3000HD. So it doesnt really matter if its low or high end (I really hope im wrong)

2. Well, if you think like that why not stick to core2duo? or pentium 4? really? i bet 99% of the US population wont even notice if we switch from sandy bridge to core2duo again. You get what im saying?

3. I know, i never said thunderchicken was a bad thing, if you read earlier posts, i am absolutely not complaining about sandy bridge, or design. I was talking about graphics. It is annoying to know that they have kept the same level graphics for the past 3 years. Talk about the evolution of technology huh?

4. The most noticeable hardware updates are just raw processing power speeds... and battery life. I really do appreciate that Apple actually cares about stuff. I dont have a Mac, i own an HP desktop. and I need a laptop. The only reason why I was posting is because I will actually need a laptop. and watching apple since 2006 with minor graphic updates its just frustrating.

Again, let me repeat myself, but I really hope all these rumors are actual rumors. But hey, 15 more hours till we know :D

Yes, I will buy, and I will be thrilled. Exhibit A:

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Spec bump, redesign, whatever, MBP's are still awesome machines--specs don't tell the story at all. My MBP still works better then friends whose W7 machines (on paper) were supposed to sing. Crashing and annoying pop-ups aren't singing.

Would I enjoy a screen-res increase, though? Shoot, yes, even though the MBP 1280x800 still looks better than many other higher-res screens out there.

My MB is busted so yeah, MBP is a purchase unless it's worse than the current gen in which I'll just get the old one online for cheaper.

I will probably buy a 13" MBA.
I have been waiting for 4 months because I was hoping the 13 " MBP would be better gaming-wise. But with the downgrade of the IGP, I will go for the MBA.

Still happy I'm gonna buy that puppy, but a bit underwhelmed because I could have had it 4 months ago :(
