Just curious to see what people wanted in iOS 8 that apple didn't give us this time. I felt that they fulfilled a wide variety of requests that overall really improved the operating system.

A big missing feature for me though was up next, something I've been waiting for since it was released in iTunes many versions ago.

4G toggles ON/OFF

I wanted one simple thing. In most every app double hitting the status bar scrolls the window to the top to the the most recent item/post etc. I just want Photo albums to be the same way. Hitting the status bar puts you a the top of the window, but at the oldest photos. Never quite understood the logic of this.

- Side by Side Multitasking
- Improved Maps
- Up Next in Music
- Guest User account for iPad
- Better do not disturb functionality
- Expanded Control Centre with slight customisation

So funny reading the responses to this thread. Basically, people want iOS to be Android. Go get Android and you wont be let down any further with iOS updates.

I own a Note 3 and iPhone 5. There are things on my Note that Apple has and/or does better than Android. One is the music player and ITunes Store. I am not a fan of Google Play.

However, about the only two things missing for me to ditch Android is larger screen(love my 5.7") and insert multiple documents to an email.

I kind of hope they bring more focus to the iPad. Most of the new things in iOS 8 were either iPhone specific or benefited both devices equally. And because I am selfish (and only have an iPad) I'd like to see some iPad specific enhancements.

-fix folders - only seeing 9 apps per page on a 9.7" screen is simply stupid
-improve support for bluetooth keyboards - if I could scroll web pages with arrow keys the experience would be much better
-the homescreen grid still needs to be more flexible (home screen widgets would be nice but I'm not missing them)
-split screen is apparently on its way?

Hopefully by the time the iPad Air 2 is released at least some of the obvious ones will be addressed.

Still really liked the keynote. Usually iOS news doesn't do much for me but this year both iOS 8 and OS X were exciting!

I was on Android for 2.5 years. I only miss the screen size and the predictable keyboard. Looks like both are coming this year from Apple so I'm content.

Ability to customise control centre.
Attach multiple files to e-mail.*
Decent filesystem implementation.*

* I've resigned myself to the fact that iOS will probably never have these, but doesn't stop me wanting them.

The first one, I wouldn't expect from them either.
The second one I would since it's reasonable.
And that last one has been included since the very first iphone. What your looking for is a "Finder for iOS" and Spotlight might be as close as you get.

Quick reply for iMessage

They have two versions of quick reply for iMessage, Facebook, and any 3rd-party app that wants to implement it. Using banners, you pull down from the top and the keyboard pops up sort of like Spotlight. Using alerts, you press reply on the pop up and a keyboard comes up reminiscent of biteSMS. Using the lockscreen, you slide to reply and a keyboard comes up while your phone goes back to being locked when sent. :apple:

Clear all for notifications. Swiping to remove notifications. This would all make getting rid of notifications SO MUCH EASIER. I was an avid Android user who had to switch to iOS for work (I enjoy both platforms), and I wouldn't mind a direct cop of these features.

The little "x" for each set of notifications is so frustrating.

I just read that you can individually swipe notifications to remove them from Notification Centre.

You can swipe to dismiss individual notifications now. Also when you click on a notification in notification center it removes the notification for all apps now. Definitely much improved but a dismiss all would be nice.
