I'm thinking of getting a new ios device to replace my iPod touch 1st generation as it's getting on in years. What should I get? An iPhone 3G 8gb for £135 or an iPod touch 4th generation 8gb for £135?thanks for the help guys!

I think you need a 64GB iPAD 2. Because, well, I like it! Might not meet your needs since you didn't really say what your needs were, but hey...

The iPhone 3G is becomming alittle bit of a historic device, so new isn't a word I'd use. Can't you save up. For a bit and get a device that will support iOS5?, (which will at least give a couple of years use.)

He did mention that 4th gen iPod Touch for the same price as the old iPhone 3G? Besides, the iPod Touch 4th gen is the way to go, seeing as it is iOS 5 capable.

This. Or if you must choose between the two I would get the iPod Touch.

Between the two, the iPod touch will last you an extra year of iOS updates. The iPhone 3G is already end of lifed for updates.
