I've got an Air 2 and to be honest I see no reason to upgrade it. I think Apple over did itself with the Air 2. It was the first tablet to get two gigs of ram and a Tri-Core SOC. The tablet is still pretty fast. It's also got that high quality anti-reflective coating "purple" like they have on high end designer sunglasses. In single core the A9 is obviously faster, but in multi-core the A9 vs the triple core A8x is pretty close. However, I find myself using the tablet less as the phone screens get bigger. Once Apple reduces the bezels on their phablets and gets to about 6 inches, the less relevant tablets and mini tablets become. I still know a guy who takes his ipad 2 to work and uses it with no problems. Apple built them a little too well, where it's only needed to be replaced every 5-6 years, but since mobile chips have gotten so powerful that trend looks to be gone in the near future. Just like in the 90's when a new computer would double in performance every couple of years. Not the case anymore. Moore's law will be no more.

Yup I dont plan on upgrading my Air 2 anytime soon. Its still fast on IOS 10 and has a great screen.

As of right now, 22% of the votes are for an iPad Mini. That’s not an insignificant number and makes me wonder why Apple has not upgraded the Mini (and may even abandon it). That just doesn’t compute.
 
I know that does seem weird but I guess Apple has decided that the mini is not worth it anymore all though the mini 2 3 and 4 are supposedly going to get IOS 12 when it comes.
 
2018 iPad, downgraded from 2017 12.9 iPP. The speakers are the only quibble along with Safari hiccupping on certain websites, otherwise I do not miss the iPP (only the money I paid for it 😳).

If Apple releases an upgraded iPad Mini, I would jump as I love that size and miss my Mini 4. Nice to see the Mini represented here. 🙂
 
iPad Air 2, have served me very well. Battery is getting bad now though.
See what comes on fall event.
I hope to soon replace this with a MBA 11/12", and later a iPad Mini 5 too.
 
Still on my 5 and a half year old iPad 4. I'm amazed at how well it's held up, still can get through most of a day with one charge. Will retire it with honors for the smaller of the two Pro models whenever they are released.

OP, I kept looking at the percentage the poll shows for the iPad Minis and my brain was telling me the numbers didn’t look correct. As of this writing there are 416 votes, but it appears 335 votes were used to calculate the percentages. What am I missing?

Wow it’s cool to come back to this poll it’s funny I’ve been on a 2nd gen 12.9” Pro since they came out that summer. Maybe time for another poll 😉

iOS 12 looks to keep that trend
 
I have a 9.7” iPad Pro and I am extremely happy with it. It works well for everything I need to do as a student, and reading on it is especially easy without the bulk of the 12.9” pro. If I would have came on the train later, I would have been fine with the 10.5” pro too. For me, it was what Phil was marketing as in general. An ultra portable PC replacement

I'm very happy with my refurb. Air 2. This is the best iPad I've owned and I've had a few. It's still running iOS 10 and will soon be updated to 12 once released. I was tempted to replace it with a refurb. 2017 10.5" but on 2nd thought I just don't need all its extra power.
 
I have a 12.9 iPad Pro and an iPad mini 4. I use the larger iPad as a virtual white board for teaching a class, for marking up PDF's, and for reading and surfing the web when I'm at home. I use the iPad mini for reading and surfing the web when I'm out, as well as a GPS.

Still rocking my iPad Air 2. Not blazing fast but fast enough. For work I have the 2017 iPad.

Newer iPads like the Pro models are certainly nicer but I just don’t have a compelling reason to get one yet. Being that my work provides me with an iPad I’m not sure I’ll replace my Air 2 when it eventually dies. I also have other things I want to upgrade first come this fall namely my iphone and Mac.

I have nothing that “needs” an upgrade this fall...but I always find an excuse

I feel the same, and since its my money I can spend it how I see fit. However I just don't find anything all that interesting with newer models. I could technically say that about all my Apple tech however like you I can easily justify the iPhone and Mac at this time.

I have an iPad Air 128gb that floats around the house (kids) for browsing and email, my wife uses a 12.9 Pro 1st gen 128gb Cellular and I have a 12.9 Pro 256gb Cellular I use mostly for work. I am still making Verizon payments on mine, but over half paid. I am looking forward to the refresh of the Pros when I may sell my wife’s to pay mine off, give her mine, and get the new 12.9 one from Verizon. That is if the numbers jive. If I can get 450-500 for a 1st gen 12.9.

Well dont forget iOS 12 will be on all those devices and bring the iPhone X gesture navigation (which is insanely intuitive) to them, as well as increased overall stability and performance. You very well might consider keeping your iPads around another year. Even then I’d only bother maybe getting the kids a new iPad. Your Pro’s have years of life left.

I need to research how the iPhone X gestures are going to affect my usage with my devices as I am still rocking a 6S Plus lol. I did forget to note that my 12.9 is a 2nd gen and I love the screen. I don’t know how people think th 12.9 is too big - it is perfect for me and so damned thin. It is a joy to use for reading, streaming and of course, my presentation I use for work.

I have a 9.7 iPad Pro on iOS 9. Not a single issue with it, but I do wonder when will app compatibility affect me. Maybe when that happens it's time to upgrade. So far, so good, though. I do have a few apps I can't download but I don't really care about those.
