I will have to go with the iphone 4s. The size was perfect, the glass back was so sexy and its speed at the time was top notch. Not to mention siri was introduced and the camera was also great.
Iphone 5s was super close to taking the top

Definitely the 4s. Stylish, at the time fast, very durable, retina display.

The 4s IMHO was the biggest leap for the iphone.

Sure, the 4 looks the same, but performance was quite lacking in comparison.

I’d say a runner up would be the SE.

Same form factor, but much more powerful internals.

5C was the best looking, in my opinion, followed by the 7 in gloss black. The X is up there too, though FaceID looks like a step back in usability. Touch ID was the single best hardware addition. I still think the original was the best size - I’d love one like the X but the size of the original.

Yeah, the only reason I’ve grudgingly had a 6 and 7 is because though i love the original form factor, Apple have really pushed the UI so that it no longer works very well on it. Well that and the SE is currently a bit old.

For me, the iPhone right now is kinda awkwardly between ideal 1 handed phone size, and a tablet.

I have a tablet....

I get that some might like the Plus as a phablet type device... but for me..

I'm biased here since the iPhone 5 was my first iPhone, but that's really the one that pushed me to go from Android to iOS. The next one would probably be iPhone 6S/6S Plus since it took a mediocre performing iPhone 6/6 Plus and turned it into a beast. I'm assuming that's how the 4S was compared to the 4. iPhone 8 Plus is probably the cleanest white/silver iPhone though, so it gets an honorable mention.

iPhone 6-7 have the ugly plastic strips on the back, they’ll age pretty badly in the hall of fame of iPhone design.

Well technically the 7/7 Plus did not have bands on the back. They did clean the design up quite a bit with the 7. However Apple mastered the design with the iPhone 8/8plus IMHO... of course after 4 years of the same design I’d hope they could master it...

As much as people don’t want to admit it... the 8 and 8 Plus is going to sale great. It’s just going to be a slow burn compared to other iPhones released. I mean hell 5.5 Million of them on launch weekend is still pretty good IMHO.

However the best iPhone of all time I would have to say is the iPhone 5/5s/SE followed by the iPhone 8/8Plus then the 4/4S...

I don’t care for the X’s design by any means at all... the notch kills it for me

The 6 was pretty horrific and the worst design in the post Steve Jobs era of Apple. The 6S was pretty disgusting too.

The 7 did improve on design a bit, especially in Jet Black.

The 8 was Apple finding it's design groove again.

iPhone 5 and the SE.

I strongly dislike the 4/4s even though I do now own a 4s. Never cared for the glass back and the stainless steel band. Perhaps if the band had been black I may have liked it better. Also, a lot of people at the time seemed to really like the neon bumpers. I just thought it made the phone downright fugly.

The 5 got it right, Black/Slate.

I like the shape of the SE though. Unlike the 6/7/8 series it actually has a camera flush with the casing and no antenna bands.

If Apple had taken the SE and made it in a Plus size that would be the phone I'd be buying. Sadly, they have not.

It would have to be the 4s. The jump in speed was amazing and the things you were able to do with it. The screen was perfect at the time, it looked better than any other phone (the screen, not the phone) and the design was still pretty slick. Heavy as f#*&, but fast!

Well, it does actually have antenna bands and the 8/8 Plus are actually really similar. They just have an entire glass back instead of a strip at the top and bottom.
