Yes, I see that, but then when I check Apple Serial Number Info website, it lists as Mid-2013, but manufactured in 2014, as Custom order?:

Does the same serial number appear on the bottom of the laptop?

It's possible the laptop was made in 2014 even though it's a mid 2013 as per the apple website.

I would believe the apple website over a non-apple site.

I'll have to check in a bit. I have a rugged case on right now and it's a pain to get off.

Edit: Same serial number as on bottom panel

Apple don't know how to repair simple thing like problem with Air custom models

also second problem I noticed in some MacBooks, there is possibility to disappear serial number (system says unavailable) during OS or Boot Rom update

FWIW, my mid-2013 11" i7/8gb/512gb MBA does not show the year in the "about" window either. In System Report it says

Model Name: MacBook Air
Model Identifier: MacBookAir6,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
