Shuffles dont have screens

i very much doubt it would be for a shuffle having a screen would kill the random shuffleingness of the shuffle. i just dont see apple changing a product so drastically a nano on the other hand with a touch screen and possible a click wheel would make a little more sense.

My vote is on it being for a remote, its exactly as wide as the current Apple Remote.

What said remote might look like:

1. It isn't a touchscreen. Even if it is (as per the FM radio chip in the iPhone), it won't be utilised as such.
This makes no sense.

If Apple didn't need a touchscreen LCD part, they would use an ordinary non-touch part. They're a lot cheaper.

Comparing this to the FM radio is a mistake. The unimplemented FM radio functionality is part of a long list of features from the Broadcom chip in question. Apple can't get the part without the FM radio and they don't want to be bothered with utilizing every single feature.

It's like you buying an orange. Yes, you could turn the rind into candied orange peel but will you?

Apple remote seems like a good candidate. Also, wasn't there an article about Apple putting a solar technology patent in? I could see the new iphones in the future having solar technology built into the touch screen so it charges itself.

At 30mm x 30mm it's too small to function as a decent touch screen.

It could be LCD screen (640 x 480?) for a heads-up-display (HUD glasses) to be connected to iPhone/iPod Touch for 3D, augmented/virtual reality apps to go with the new gyroscope in the iPhone4 and forthcoming iPodTouch.

What about a new FaceTime device - could be the wristwatch form factor, but specifically for FaceTime v-calling (wireless enabled, who knows, perhaps even micro-SIM 3G etc)?

I quite like that remote control mock-up, and an iWatch could be quite interesting. But it'll probably be something like an iPod screen.

Very interesting. 30mm x 30mm is a very very small screen. Some sort of wearable phone or iPod? New Apple TV remote? iPod shuffle with display?

Except the connectors come out a long way to connect to the (unseen, unknown) logic board, and they come out in completely different directions.

What this is needed for is not a nano, nor a shuffle. Maybe it's for a laptop, an external display when the lid is shut.

Remote Control

The screen on my Logitech Harmony One remote is only slightly larger than 3 x 3. With the right UI design, a touch screen could be made this size.

New iPd Nano

This could be the new iPod Nano. This 3cm x 3cm screen is bigger than the current Nano.

Remember there was the concept that the (now current) iPhone was gonna have a touch sensative back, for doing certain functions?

Maybe this was a part they were thinking about using, but never implemented it. It's only now that it has surfaced.

My thoughts:

• iPod nano? No, this screen is much smaller - I don't see them shrinking the screen so much.

• Bezel around screen indicates it is most likely a touchscreen, in typical Apple fashion.

• iPod shuffle? Possibly, but I doubt they could keep the price down and the durability up with such a design.

• Remote? Nah, it would eat batteries and it's too small.

• Trackpad? Are you kidding me, it's tiny!

• iWatch? This is my guess. It could interface with your Mac, iPhone, iPod touch, etc. Would be a cool concept...

is for the new iPod Shuffle (waaaay smaller) info screen that reacts to touch. two taps next track, tre taps previous track etc, and it show you the command icon with every tap combination, can't tel you who told me.
