I think my data usage is going to be higher this summer because I'm off and working on summer courses. When I go back to work in the fall, I won't be able to use my iPhone much during the day (my job is not one where I can frequently access my phone) so my usage will go down.

wow, my data usage is low. i didn't know what to expect since this is my first iPhone.
MyWireless app:
19 days into my billing cycle: 48.29MB

iPhone usage settings:
sent: 5.1MB
received: 42.5MB

I got my iPhone on Wed.

Sent: 14.1
Received: 100

I did do a restore on Wed. or Thurs. night though when experimenting with something so there was an extra 7 or 8 MB there.

What is the difference between sent data and received data?

19megs

And based on my past usage trends, the data utilization rate tapers off after the initial novelty effect wears off on a new phone. So I only expect it to get lower from here on out.

I just passed 5GB on one of my lines one week into my current month (iPhone 3G with 3G Unrestrictor). My second line is just over 1GB on an iPhone 4, and the third line is just over 51MB. I just upgraded this line on Friday from an original iPhone to a 3GS.

Sent: 203 MB
Received: 1.3 GB

I got mine on launch day. My usage habits haven't changed that much to justify such high usage. I don't know what's going on. But I'm glad I stuck with my unlimited data plan.

The data usage stats can be imported from your old iPhone when you set up your iphone 4 with a backup from your old phone, that's why a lot of people are seeing some crazy usage figures - my iPhone reported 600Mb after 2 days of use; I checked with my online bill for how much data I'd actually used, and it was nowhere near that. I looked at the stats on my old 3G, and they said nearly 600Mb, which shows in my case it passed that data to my new phone.

I'm new to this forum and to iPhone so this may seem like a silly question, but which usage (sent or received) determines your data usage for the month?

Just wait til the netflix app gets released, then make another thread like this. Clearly the murmurs of that app in the works are a main factor into ATT capping bandwidth

As of today I'm at:

Sent: 80 MB
Received 1.5 GB

I could probably get away with the 2 GB per month plan, but for now, I'm still staying unlimited.

since the 24th

sent 273 MB
received 3.6 GB

wow... I do a lot of steaming music... I don't have wifi anywhere.

Thank god for unlimited.

Got my iPhone4 on July 4th.

Sent 9.2 MB
Received 133MB

Now considering that I've upgraded from the 2G iPhone and I haven't quite gotten out of the habits I had from using it, this is not a surprise. I tended to do rather little across 2g, and did my heavier stuff at home, around Wifi.

How/where do I check the out and incoming?

On my my wireless acct all I see is 280mb over the few weeks I had my iPhone 4.
