My iPhone 3G is MUCH MUCH MUCH faster. Animations are much smoother transitioning from Home to other apps, or from the apps to home. Good updatefrom Apple for the 3G. If you have a 3G definitely upgrade.

I upgrade my 3GS from 3.1.2 to 4.1 today,not 4.2. I think 4.2 is for iPad.
What rock are you living under? Who told you 4.2.1 was only for iPad? 4.2.1 official was released for iPod, iPad and iPhone.
iPad versions were 3.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 4.2.1
iPod and iPhone versions, not going too far back, were 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1, 4.2.1
There was no officially released 4.2 as they were all beta, only 4.2.1 was official for all devices to finally unify them under one version.
