I have a Apple Magic mouse that uses two AA batteries. It is more than six years old and works as well now as when i bought it. No need to spend money and replace it.

I think one of the reasons mice are lasting so long now is the lack of the moving parts. Sure, you have the scroll wheel and the buttons, but that ball in the bottom used to be the BIGGEST problem. It seemed like the older the mouse got the faster it collected lint like a belly button (navel).
Good points about the problem of the ball and wheels collecting lint. I would open the bottom of my mouse and clean it out with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol every two months.

This kind of issue has been around since the beginning for over 20 years.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 that I use daily at work (it's my primary pointing device). That thing goes in a mesh pocket on the outside of my bag every night and goes in there when I travel also. Last time I bought one (and I bought 2 with one still in the package at home) was in 2011. This thing has held up VERY well, IMO.

LOL, It's no longer available and Amazon has a used one for $117...

I have the same mouse. Bought it at a Staples marked down to $9.99 way back when. Always been reliable for me.

I have at least 6 Apple Magic mice and all are running strong with no sign of wear or problems, and these were bought between 2012-2014, I believe. The only problem is that High Sierra seems to be unable to properly calculate battery charge when using NiMH batteries and when I complained and submitted bug report, Apple responded that this will not be fixed due to these devices being obsolete. Hm, Sierra had no problem, what changed and why not to support them further???
Basically, these Magic mice look indestructible. No plans to replace them.
On the other hand, I had few off-brand, cheaper, mice over the last 5-6 years for other systems and many are dead now. Other brand which mice typically last long time for me is Microsoft.

I've got a Logitech MX Laser mouse (the original) from 2005 or so that is still going strong with daily use. It is probably the most comfortable mouse I've ever used.

I got a Logitech MX Master 2s last week. It has happened once that the mouse pointer was jumping randomly across the screen. I needed to reboot the MBP for it to return to normal. Know what is wrong? Is it better to exchange it right away?

I have and use a Logitech M510 at work that I've had for well over 6 years. I use it all work week unless I'm on the road (maybe 15 working days a year) or actually working from home and using my work issued laptop (a few hours every month). I've changed the batteries on it twice, so 6 double A batteries over that period and I never turn it off. The only issue I have with it is occasionally it won't register a middle click. It's well worn. Originally it had dimpled soft touch where your thumb rests and that is no longer dimpled. It's a bit like a patina. I buy dozens of them for users at my work every year and recommend it highly.

I exchanged the MX Master 2s due instances of mouse pointer automatically moving all over the screen and an instance of lack of respond. Anybody has this kind of issues before?

I got a light grey one now. I guess it is good for me as I have to wash my hands all the time to keep the mouse clean.
