My favorite is Chrome. I think Safari is my least favorite browser on the Mac.

They're all free though, so try em out yourself. :)

I use Safari all the time, but every time I use Chrome I feel like I have a better experience. Maybe I end up using Safari more because it in my dock. It feel it is faster and integrates into my system's apps better. Plus, it just feels more light on its feet.

So, I guess the best browser for users is the one already on their dock.

On my Mac I use mainly Safari; in company on W7 I have to use IE8 or IE9.
In the past on Linux I used FF.
But I like Safari on Mac; so no desire to switch.

I prefer Firefox at the moment.
It is far from ideal, but currently the one I find the most useful.

Safari - No scrollable tabs when overflow.
Chrome - Bad Keychain Access support.
Firefox - Slow and sluggish.
Camino - Outdated.

I've been using Chrome since the day the mac version was released. I like how much personalization it offers and the interface is much more user friendly than Firefox or Safari in my opinion.

Chrome offers lightning fast performance & extensions that are quite useful.
Chrome for these reasons.

Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera are all free. Try them out and decide for yourself which one works best for you.
The best browser for me is Safari. But the best browser for you is the one you like best.
I agree with most people here, try them all out and find the one that works best for you.

Good answers for someone asking for a recommendation on which browser to use. However, OP is asking what browsers are used by the people replying and why -- presumably to aid in the development of the browser the OP mentions. In other words, the OP is polling. What works best for the OP isn't relevant.

Browser preference is certainly subjective but that's why the OP is asking "Why?" as well as "What?".

Uh, you realize that you can change what's on the dock, right? I have both Chrome and Safari on my dock. I wouldn't consider Safari best IMO.

Gee, really?

You do realize some people have limited space on their dock and realize that once an app is off the dock, it's likely going to be used less, right? I really don't see 2 very similar browsers on my dock as practical, but I may try it.

Safari. I haven't seen any reason to not use it. Bookmark and Reading List syncing with my iDevices are a plus, as well.

Safari

I use Firefox when I am on a computer with Windows. But on my iMac I only use Safari. It works great with Lion, and I just haven't had any reasons to switch to another browser.

I had webkit nightly and it seemed more stable than safari, then it started conflicting with safari. When I would start safari after quitting webkit, safari would start with a blank screen. Odd.

which browser

I use Omniweb, because it gives me complete control over loading prefs per page. I can reduce load to as little as i want, or as much as I need.

Safari - Synchronisation of bookmarks across mac/iphone/ipad without having to put any effort in to it is a great feature for me.

Asides from that, all browsers are a bit SSDD now.

i use firefox because of its customization. the history memory is insane, no other browser is close to as good. i can add a "keysearch" for websites by configuring it. so when i type in a w before my search, my search goes automatically to wikipedia, for instance: w steve jobs - brings me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_jobs

Chrome can do keyword search, but its not as well-thought out.

I think Firefox is the best browser for advanced users (e.g. those who need to mass download links, search a lot, add a lot of bookmarks), as it has more extension APIs than Chrome, so much more powerful extensions. You'll notice the difference, for example, when using Adblock Plus for FF versus ABP for chrome.

Now they've combined the rapid release schedule WITH automatically updating extension compatibility, speed increases and reductions in memory usage are coming rapidly without breaking extensions (as was happening earlier in the year). So Chrome's speed advantage is lessening. And with extensions like this in the pipeline, it'll gradually become even better.

Chrome is still better for the casual user though. Fast and simple.

I predominantly use Safari as I like how it looks and feels.

There are some times that Safari will not work well for me and then just for those times, I use Firefox.

I'd like to use Safari, but it's not as convenient, as Chrome or Firefox is!

You can work faster with Chrome/FF than Safari. The shortcuts, Bookmarking, ... is all faster than with Safari.

I don't use Safari.

Safari is the more integrated browser, especially if you have iOS devices, but (at least for me) nothing works as fast and renders pages better than Chrome.

I put y for youtube, so if i go "y steve jobs" i get to http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=steve jobs&oq=&aq=&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=

i ****ing love it

Roccat's been doing this for ages check out: http://runecats.com/roccatnl.html

You can add any number of new websires the %@ acts as the word which comes after so you can literally use any website.

I made the navigate launcher on roccat with this domain http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%@ and set the navigate launcher as #

so now when I type "# browser" for example it will search twitter hash tags for browser :) - it's awesome because you can customize the keywords and add as many new ones as you wish.

+1 for Safari. Designed by Apple for Apple. Thats good enough for me.

Safari on windows on the other hand is a load of poop.

firefox -- works best for me, no problems with rendering websites i visit, displays all types of multimedia, the flexibility, customization, and utility are unmatched by other browsers.

no need for other browsers but have tried/used many --

safari -- used for testing website compatibility. it doesn't display/render all pages/sites and just doesn't work for too many sites with multimedia to use as a primary browser (and flash sites break more frequently with safari and there still are plenty of them around).

omniweb -- fastest of all the mac browser on my mbp (even faster than chrome) but don't care for the side tabs and can't move them to spread across the top.

chrome -- the browser is fine but makes you sign in to get extensions (that's unnecesary)

opera -- fine but nothing special

seamonkey -- works fine, like FF but more integrated features

camino -- showed promise but development has slowed and is clunky by today's browser standards

To the OP, your website should recognize that i'm using a mac browser and when i click on the download button should download a suitable installer -- i got an exe file -- that made me question the company and the technology. Once i got the mac version, no faster than other browsers, displayed/rendered pages fine, however, there's no way to type in a URL (or URL fill in) so it's a no go for me as there's nothing beneficial about it and it's inconvenient to have to search for a site instead of typing the URL.
