Really i always love my kindel for reading. Its so light and easy on the eyes.

Cool. I tried a Kindle and couldn't take the eye strain (too dim), so it was back to the iPad for me and I've never looked back. Very soothing for my eyes.

Everyone is different.

Produced music using nano studio and sold to artists. They have no idea i made the tracks on an iPad.

Yes i do i had just bought an ipad and i want to get some ideas of what i could do with it.

Thanks for starting this thread, I too just bought an iPad and would not have looked for anything like this in the iPhone section.

That Square App for taking Credit Card payments is amazing, and I can see an expansion/growth of one aspect of business for me.

For most people a lit display causes them eye strain, just like how a computer monitor does it. A device like the Kindle that doesn't light your face up, is actually more soothing to the eyes.

The coolest thing I did was sell it just before rumors hit about the upcoming new model. I got a great price for it & now I'm ready whenever iPad 2 is released.

I'm in no rush either, as it was only a secondary web surfing device. Limited usefulness in my case makes it fun but not essential.

This is the first I've ever read about someone claiming a Kindle causes eye strain. I'm thinking perhaps it was defective. I've had both an iPad & every version of the Kindle.

The iPad is nice for what it was designed to do. Never was an iPad designed as a purpose built ebook reader.

On the other hand. Kindle's are designed as ebook readers. Have a totally different display technology and the new version is especially excellent.

Personally I will always have both. They are two very different devices. Each quite good at what it was designed for.

Too many people seem unable to make that distinction.

Maybe he was reading it in the dark.

Correct. When I read at night, I like the lights to be dim or out. During the day I prefer natural light inside my home over artificial lights. At work I prefer to have the office lights out if I am near a window. In none of my preferred environments does a Kindle provide a good reading experience.

My IPad provides an excellent reading experience in all these common situations. The Kindle is what I would use at the beach or on a park bench. That's it.

So the iPad is a good reading device for me 365 days per year, but the Kindle has its uses a few days a year.

Why didn't you just say that from the start? The Kindle was not designed with backlighting, it's designed to be easy on the eyes like a real book. But just so you know, reading in dim or no light even with the iPad, causes eye strain.

Ordered my Square last night... let's hope it gets here fast - although I have no use for it currently which is precisely why I'm happy there is no fee unless you actually charge someone. Since we're discussing this, has anyone had any bad experiences with this company? As in, have you been scammed or been charged fees out of the blue for no reason?

In the airplane, Foreflight Mobile HD + Jeppesen Mobile TC + 3G = holy crap how did I live without this tool before. Definitely a big help and stress/time saver. No longer do I have to deal with rummaging around and flipping through paper charts. Now they're only in the airplane as a backup in case the iPad decides it's a fire or something otherwise undesirable.

I have used it many times and the money is always promptly placed in my account.
