I have a 12 mini and held off on the 13 mini knowing I can just get one this September for less money when they announce the 14 (I know it’s a worse value proposition though)

Then my endgame is simply to pray that they recycle the mini chassis into the iPhone SE in ~2024

While I did not switch to a Mini from a 13PM, I added the Mini and use them both daily. 13PM for work as I need the larger screen and battery life. Most days the PM still needs a charge boost. The Mini I added is used every where else. I like the pocketability, one handed usage ability and surprisingly using it as my Apl TV remote. Both units are a mirror of each other using the same number using the TMBL DIGITS feature so switching between devices are seamless.

What is TMBL DIGITS?

What are you doing where you need to charge your 13PM most days? Holy crap.

Ya, long days for sure making deliveries around a large metro city. 11- 14 hrs M-F. Multiple map trips, streaming music all day (XM, Apl music), texting, phone calls, a small amount of SM and occasionally watching the evening news. All on 5G UC which is a bit of a battery hog. 6 mo in the battery is still showing 100%. Love the phone, just to dang big.

Just got my 13 mini yesterday yet haven’t switched over waiting for my case + screen protector to come in first.

My plan is to keep using the 13 mini until it’s dead! I may pickup another as a spare for long term use.

I suspect Apple will keep the 13 mini for sale another year. Y?
First quarter the 12 mini outsold more than the current iPhone SE 3 did in 1 qtr (25.2 million). Apple didn’t reduce its production until the 6th month in whereas the SE 3 es cut in less than 6 wks! We’re still awaiting sales numbers.

13 mini owners and overs I implore you to write into Apple support and to Tim Cook stating how much you enjoy the phone and still prefer a phone of this size! Right away. It’s the only way Appe will realize a market is best served with such a model over an SE-legacy based unit.

I personally think the 13 mini will become the SE when they decide to phase out the Touch ID button. Eventually anyway.

Shame they are dropping the mini though as there are clearly people that prefer the smaller devices.

My 12 to me seems the perfect size albeit a little tricky to use one handed sometimes.

I’m not a 13 Mini owner, but I might be after my SE1 becomes unusable. Still trying to decide between a 13 Mini and the new SE as the eventual successor. I don’t really like either option. I would rather pay Apple $50 per month to keep my SE1 functional forever.
But if I was already a Mini owner, my plan would be pretty much the same: keep using it until it loses app support, then see what my options are. I’d most likely just go with the smallest iPhone available, though I would strongly consider leaving the iPhone if there were other compelling small phones. I’ve often toyed with the idea of getting a Lightphone, though losing that much functionality would be pretty extreme. And it would be hard to leave the Apple ecosystem, so my other thought was to get an iPod Touch (if it gets updated) and use that tethered to some other phone. And keep both of them with me all the time. As you can see, I’m getting pretty desperate and not making a lot of sense.

Edit- actually if the other phone is a Lightphone, an iPod Touch and a Lightphone shouldn’t be too much to carry around. Hmmmmmm……..

Sit down, take a deep breath, and prepare for a relaxing weekend. These crazy thoughts will soon fade ;)

Keeping my 13 mini till the end of it. Will buy another one for a spare. Currently have starlight, will
Pick up the green once discounted
I could go for a midnight one to pair with starlight. But last time I got black I was bored with it after only a few months.

I wish the green wasn’t so dark green. Maybe I just need to see in person to appreciate.

I’ve read review that lightphone 2 has TERRIBLE battery life. Just go into it knowing that it’s truly a backup phone, that shouldn’t be depended on for a whole day.

I do hope they bring it back in some form or another. I picked one up coming from a 12 Pro and loved the form factor. Missed the telephoto lens too much and despite the improvements on battery life - it still wasn't enough for moderate use throughout the day.

On wi-fi I didn't have issues making it throughout the day. As soon as the Ultrawide 5G kicked in - the battery was getting absolutely destroyed in no time. Hopefully they can toss in a much better battery if it comes around again and I might be sold on it.

Well that’s disappointing, especially with an e ink screen…

Lol, replacing one device with 2 devices is never the answer if you’re looking for an SE replacement. I couldn’t think of anything worse. The Mini, I would suggest, is the true successor to the SE ‘16. It is very similar in design aesthetics and only slightly larger. I would go with the Mini if Touch ID isn’t mandatory… Face ID is very effective and doesn’t take long to get used to.

I am in the same boat as you. I downgraded from the 12 Mini to a new SE ‘16 and plan to continue with the SE for as long as it is supported.

This little thing is getting attention from work colleagues as they say it’s so small & a blast from the past.

I love using this phone and I agree that it’s more comfortable in the hand than the Mini. That being said, the Mini is a fantastic phone and the 2nd smallest supported iPhone available so I won’t really mind going back to it later this year or in early ‘23.

If you pick up a 13 Mini I can pretty much guarantee that you won’t be disappointed… unless you’re sensitive to PWM!

I'm ready for a larger device, when I decide to replace my current 5.8 device it will definitely be with a Pro Max
I'm so happy for you.

Now, imagine that you just found out that Apple was going to drop all the Max-size phones and you would no longer have that option. I know that is not happening, now, but use your imagination and ask yourself how you would feel about that.

Hahah I meant the two device thing was a possibility after the Mini is discontinued (if it is). I will almost for sure go with either the Mini or new SE after the SE1, as two devices is definitely extreme. I wouldn’t consider it unless the smallest iPhone in the future is closer to 6”. I really really hate using a phablet when I’m out and about (I tried for a few months and just got more and more frustrated). But even 6” is probably less headache than two devices, especially with no software integration between them. I dunno, it's just a no win situation, seems like.
As far as Face ID vs Touch ID, I’m sure Face ID is very convenient, but I’m very uncomfortable with/wary of my device having that level of detailed knowledge of my face and being able to read my expressions and my eyes at all times. It’s too personal for me, so I always put a sliding camera cover on my devices, which wouldn’t allow Face ID to work anyway. So that’s a big reason why I might choose SE over Mini. Just a personal thing.

Edit-
Actually, can’t an Apple Watch unlock an iPhone now? I have a watch so maybe I could get a Mini and just use that instead of Face ID.
Edit again-
Never mind, I believe the watch only unlocks if I use Face ID and I’m wearing a mask or sunglasses. Also it would only work for unlocking the phone, not Apple Pay or Keychain etc.

I'd say, I need to find a phone that suits my needs and choose a different device. Possibly a 6.1 Pro or a S22 Ultra and see how I like android. As far as the mini, Apple is the only company that offers phones in the size you've described so if they decide they don't want to offer it in their lineup, that's their choice not mine. As far as getting rid of the Max, Apple is offering a non Pro Max in the 14 lineup so I'd say except for the SE, Apple is putting their efforts into phone's at least 6.1 or larger.. I have no problem with the mini, it's just not for me...
