It being reversible is a good enough feature for me. I don't plan on buying it but I don't have that much invested in accessories anyway.

What is the point of new dock connector?

I will by this phone just for the connector.
The present one bugs me. I have to line it up and orient it. I wear reading glasses so those have to be used.
This new one looks really easy.
I must say though, the micro-USB connectors are even worse than the present iPhone one. I practically have to use a magnifying glass to use it.

It would be pointless if you think about it. I would say 95% of people use their phone while its charging. A magsafe connector would be annoying as hell.
Kind of hard to use it while it's charging and you're sleeping which a lot of people do at the same time

It says USB2 or 3, but that doesn't mean the speed is 3. That could just be them spelling out for the non-tech person (as the new Macbooks are USB 3)

Flipping hell are you serious?! The stupidity of humanity frightens me sometimes. It seems to be some people are genuinely saying they'd upgrade because they don't have to align the frikking charging cable.

Really? How are you going to pass along video as well as the other features that the 30 pin dock supports? Oh wait, YOU CANT!
So you want a port that only charges and eliminates the usefulness of most of the iDevice accessory world so you can get that precious microUSB...right?

Seems like a very trivial reason to upgrade to me, but by no means am I judging, it's his/hers money not mine. I'm sure Apple will love receiving your cash, just throw it at them like a mindless sheep.

Ok I apologise for seeming rude, I'm just highly disappointed in Apple. Never meant to offend anyone. If the connector was faster I'd understand praise, I just get annoyed when I see people praising Apple for things that genuinely aren't much better.

Exactly! Today that iPod and Video data gets pumped out to the 30-pin connector and travels down the wire to the... Oops, that's a USB plug, isn't it.
